England v San Marino (Euro 2016 Qualifier)

(Fucking Adrian Chiles )

Cricket Score?
Embarrassing goal conceded?
Unthinkable defeat?
Rooney to surpass Jimmy Greaves in the all-time scoring lists?

Personally I'll take a good performance - quick tempo, fast breaks, decent finishing and solid defence.

Win's a win, although goal difference might be useful.

The usual meaningless thrashing. If England need goal difference to finish top 2 in this group they're so bad that they might as well not bother going

Perhaps the least interesting game ever. This is one of these England home games that should be moved around the country to smaller capacity venues instead of consistently held at Wembley.

Little to no chance of this happening:

6-0, I'll be watching Peaky Blinders after the 60th minute though.

To make it more interesting, put Adrain Chiles in the stocks and hurl a bucket of rancid fish at him each time England score.

Heh.

England chuck away a good chance to score. Camera zooms in on Roy Hodgson, who mouths "Fuck me!" for pre-watershed lip-readers everywhere.

:D

"England will decide if they want to go for records..."

Yes, because that's entirely up to them, thus far they've just been keeping their powder dry.

Is says something about modern britain that Lee Dixon has been the most intelligent man on it's second biggest TV channel in the last hour.

Oh, so suddenly it's fashionable to be all cynical about your national team is it? You can only beat what's in front of you and 5 - 0 is a good score against anybody.

You should all be ashamed of yourselves.

Get behind our boys!

The opposition goalkeeper is a student. Studying computer science.

Just saying.

I think my nana could have kept out most of those goals, and she passed away 3 years ago.

Hipsters. Ripping the heart out of our national game. Time was when you were proud to be an England fan! Proud! Now it's all skinny lattes and "we only beat em 5 - 0". Wayne Rooney, WAYNE ROONEY IS WORLD CLASS! Makes me sad it does. My old man would be spinning in his grave, if he was dead, which he isn't.

Oh get over yourself; skinny lattes

Any true Englander fan knows it's now all about artisnal ales served in jam jars.

Wembley does seem a hell of a lot more soulless than it used to in the old days.

(Not that Wembley ever had any 'soul' TBF but increasingly since the nu-Wembley was built it has that half-empty corporate-behemoth in-the-middle-of-nowhere feel about it. Especially with that 'Club Wembley' middle section seats that nobody ever bothers to turn up to cos they're either can't be arsed to turn up or they're getting their fill at at the hospitality instead).

Load of arse biscuits.

Well, word is England are going on the road again in a few years. I preferred that, and think a lot of other fans did too.

Of course, there's a lot of time and back tracking between now and then, so who knows if it'll actually come to pass.

The old Wembley used to smell of piss. Wonder how long it'll take this one to acquire its own special aroma?
