Should have declared and then never picked Carse again - leave him with an infinite test batting average and a strike rate of 600.
Except...I also remember one of Botham's ridiculous 100s in 1981 and when Botham came in Tavare had about 50. By the time Botham reached 100 Tavare had 56.One for our older viewers: I remember watching Chris Tavare opening the batting for England at Old Trafford, batting all day for 70. That was proper test cricket.
I sat through many a Boycott innings when I was a junior member of Yorkshire...block...block....blockOne for our older viewers: I remember watching Chris Tavare opening the batting for England at Old Trafford, batting all day for 70. That was proper test cricket.
Dropped for slow play, iirc... or just annoying the fuck out of everyone.I sat through many a Boycott innings when I was a junior member of Yorkshire...block...block....block
Pah! Boycott could bat for five days for 70.One for our older viewers: I remember watching Chris Tavare opening the batting for England at Old Trafford, batting all day for 70. That was proper test cricket.
You'd have got decent odds on it being a 4 day test 24 hours ago. Don't think it will be, but still, a mad day. Do they get extra time if it's close to a finish today? Probably irrelevant with the light.Four down. Be over by end of play.

These two can bat.
No, I'm being serious.
I think.
The match will draw.
I felt sorry for him!If you wanted an embodiment of the word glum... the bloke in the green wig.
... while his mate was more keen to be on the telly.I felt sorry for him!
Yeah, you at least want a decent contest between bat and ballPah. Shit wicket. Might not even go into the final day.
I was wrong - I focused on the pitch, and not how bad Pakistan are capable of being.Pitches in Pakistan can and do fall apart, but I can't see it on this occasion - not enough to go from probably 20 wickets in nearly 4 days to a result.
I'd love to be proved wrong though, would make for some finish.
