No mention yet of the slightly firmer than previous year's security detail at the entrance.

A spoiler for anyone or a reasonable precaution and a way of keeping people discreet?

I thought they were ok. They randomly picked people to search, not loads from what I could see. They were thorough though, as they should be.

If you womble in with a load of coke or something in your wallet of course you're gonna get it taken off you.

I was irritated to be held up as they refused a (reasonably pissed) bloke entry to the arena because he didnt have a wristband . . . and told him to go and amuse himself in the campsite

I was also disheartened to be approached EVERY time I went to the camper van/car park field by people asking to buy my wristband.

I dont really want unwristbanded people near my car or my tent.

OTOH I was never searched at the arena gate, on several occasions I wasn't even asked for my wristband. Perhaps I just look boring now :(

I didn't see a single person getting searched, the security seemed very low key to me, which can only be a good thing.

Didn't get asked for my wristband either, must have been lucky I guess.

Yeah I never got asked for a wristband, and there didn't seem to be that much untoward dodgeyness in general.

never searched on arrival or going into the main bit, but was asked to show my wristband as I went into the main bit

I agree with bees that the wristbanding of people whilst still in their cars on the Friday was utterly badly managed, both in terms of knowing what was happening, and knowing who was doing what

I watched several cars bypass the queue and be ignored by the stewards only then to see said people walking back to get their wristbands

no one seemed sure if it was one lane of traffic or 4

and the stewards, who were all nice and friendly, just seemed so unsure as to what was happening it can't have been too much fun for them either, esp the running out of wristbands :D

but then, I also don't want the uber organised side being introduced as the laid back attitude is something I like, I think I would just have prefered for them to be a bit more organised/experienced

that or I'm friends with too many people who are fucking good stewards etc and they've raised my expectations too far :D

I had a good time. I really enjoyed squelching through the mud and just bimbling about watching bands, buying tat and chatting to mates. I got the impression that, for a number of people, it didn't live up to expectations because it wasn't all nice and sunny. I rarely go to festivals so it's a novel experience for me, and the rain and mud became something to savour rather than feel disappointed about.

It was a shit troll.

My heart wasn't really in it,
but I can still see that being a valid perspective for some.
You slept through saturday which was a smart move on your part.
I actually had a good time despite it. It wasn't even very muddy compared to Glastonburies of recent vintage, if the rain had stopped about 2pm on saturday they'd have completely got away with it. Shame really.
We left sunday night, got out no problem re: mud and I think it was for the best even though I just wanted to get drunk and watch the Alabama's - I'm glad not to have been doing it all today.

This was my first Endorset and I enjoyedit despite the rain. Was amazed how tiny the site was- even smaller than the 'largest village festival in Norfolk' that I went to recently!

Friday was good, cocktails were excellent, good meeting so many people. Didn't know many of the bands but did see more than I usually see at festivals, probably cos I wasn't working for a change. King Porter Stomp were good fun as was te Beat. The punk covrs band that was playing in the daytime were good and the 2 mini-punks were very cute- 2 young boys with mohicans, one playing the washboard v energetically and the other one dancing away.

Saturday's constant rain/wet mist was a bit of a pisser but could have been worse - the sloppy, soupy mud on Sunday was worse imo. Came home Sunday eve so missed the A;abamas which was a shame but didn't fancy trying to get back on Mon morn in the rain/mud trying to find a bus back to the station etc. Thanks to Wiskey and Dervish for the lift to Salisbury station btw. Overall, good fun would like to go again, specially if it the sun comes to! :)

Looking forward to getting jealous at band reviews! How were AOS3 and the Inner Terrestrials?
AOS3 were great - usual set - but clashed with The Beat which was annoying.... Got hacked off waiting for Inner Terrestrials - they appeared to spend about an hour setting up (which was really due to the programme timings - not presumably because they need that long) so bimbled off to look at whatever else was going on... The Fabulous Penetrators were good - foot-tapping stuff... and Dreadzone were excellent as ever (no Earl 16 though - he was stuck en route).

A word of warning - never book an important meeting the day after you get back from a festival the evening before!

However, had a great time in spite of the rain on the Saturday. Thank god Crispy/Sparrow temp mansions can hold a fair few people! I don't think I've ever seen as few bands at a festival though!

weirdly they used the same excuse for his absence as they did last year when he failed to show up

Yes they did, someone else said that. I don't even remember them playing last year although madamv informs me that I saw them!!

I saw more bands than I usually do. I saw The Skatalites, a bit of the Cropdusters from the bar, The Beat, Cash Converted, Pronghorn, King Porter Stomp, I heard Sub Giant from the tent, and a bit of Hobo Jones on several occasions.
