Sounds like you had nearly as much rain down in Dorset as we did in North Wales**

**20 hours continuous in Dolgellau, Friday night to Saturday night, and mostly pretty heavy -- waterfalls spectacular and the river near our campsite nearly doubled its depth

Hope everyone got themselves and their vehicles towed out OK and that you all had a splendid time regardless. Looking forward to getting jealous at band reviews! How were AOS3 and the Inner Terrestrials?

Will be back nect year and we'll bring the sun back with us .... :D :p

Hiya well I've had betters times frankly.
Friday was excellent though, Pav and I arrived around lunchtime in the sunshine and set up and began the chilling out process. We camped on a random stretch of green at the side of the moonscape vehicle area. William you'd have been very excited to see all the vehicle porn. We knew some people in one and bought some dope so that was good.
The festival area itself I loved, with the Indian stall and everything, and the sculptures.
We started on pear cider I think which was excellent.
The punk rock as well was cool, it doesnt take much for me to jump up and down really.
Me and Pav were back forth in the arena listening to bands, going back for a beer and a cuddle, then coming in and wandering. It was an excellent night.
We met loads of urbs, in the beer tent oddly enough. :D

We got so drunk on Friday night that we were that couple having the really deep conversation in the middle of the walkway whilst everyone else raged around us. It was that feeling of 'We've arrived, we're set up, the whole weekends ahead of us!'
Did anyone pass the tent on the front row of the camping field (not vehivle) who had signs outside saying they were a party tent and to come in? The teepee just behind? That was quite cool, they were just finishing setting up when I stuck my head in to say hello. Sadly it had blown down when we went past as we promsied we'd go back to hang out with them.

One of the highlights for me about this festival was the durmming place, the Chai Chapel, just the ethos of being able to choose your drum and join in with strangers, and as we were going back we joined in, and we have never played together so that was great, and there was this young guy with blond dreads all tied up who was brilliant and we both played with him. It was great to watch Pav play properly and people responding to him although he doesnt like to lead.
So yeah, very very drunk that first night, had the feeling that we would have time to chill right out on the grass and have a proper look around, it being so small. But the rain the next day, and the hangover......I stayed in bed a long while, Pav went to the beer tent..........it was horrible, rain's my worst weather. Being in the beer tent was OK but that level of wetness with only a small tent to repair to did piss me off. And since we are on our way to India this week Pav did not have any decent footwear and did the day in flipflops that kept coming off and I did feel for him with cold feet... We metr his mate who he was a punk with years ago and talked about that gig that Crass did in Yeovil apparently :D and met various other characters.....but it pissed it down and we were pissed off about it so we had a meal and went back to the tent where we said we'd come back for the Buzzcocks but didnt make it. The sound of that rain hammering down and the lack of space in my tiny tent and Pavs bare cold feet........
And the next day we decided to go home! Gutted!

In conclusion, I *know* this festival is a good one, but next year will be the year that it reveals itself to me personally.
Nice to meet everyone we met though.
I shall have a beer off that slab now as I have the day off. :D

There ya go Melinda.
Forgot to say that my little golf got out all by herself with only a small amount of shouting 'Get on the grass at the side!!!!!'

Eva! Can you do a quick paragraphing job on your post mate?

I want to read and enjoy and be jealous! :D

E2a- Thanks for the edit!
Sorry about the rain though :(

Got back about 3 last night, there was a mini exodus from camp urban, I just fancied my bed and a shower. I enjoyed it, I knew the weather was going to be shit so I had resigned myself to that, I saw some good bands and some really fucking awful ones. If it was sunny the whole way through it would have been brilliant.

Pavlik posting;

Well I thought it was cool.
I always enjoy hanging around with old punks. Never feel safer tbh.
I liked the pronghorns and the punk cover band (dont know their name) and the guy on sat afternoon, who i was fairly sure was Johnny Cash.
Enjoyed chatting with JTG again and editor, dub, crispy and spanglechik

The buzzcocks sounded great from inside our living hell of a two man tent in a storm. I didn't need to be at the front to know what Pete Shelley looks like or to know that people would be throwing themselves about and smiling lots, while singing along.
But middle aged moshpit and flip-flops = big no no. ;)

The Beat were foot tappingly predictable but easy on the ears.

Started drinking with one of my oldest mates at 10am on saturday and didnt stop til 5ish, reminiscing about crass gigs, west country rave scenes, ibiza, wide boys, wannabe gangsters, old gfs, vehicles, etc etc

The chai chapel is always a festival favourite for me. Been friends with chris and wolf for a few years now and their drum workshops are wicked.

Couldn't wait to get back for a bath and some toast though after spending the last 5 weeks sleeping in my car.
;)

This. Didn't want to leave yesterday, but had to and had a hell of a journey home. Am running late today having had fuck all sleep.

But that was bloody great, will be going again next year. Shame about the weather on Saturday though.

Well its still raining in bristol, I REALLY hope it hasnt been doing that on site as well all night or its going to be hell getting out.

nowhere NEAR that much, quite a lot of light sog followed by a few short heavy bits. It just stayed wet for hours but it wasnt actual monsoon rain.

Just enough to make the mohicans go floppy ;)

Yeah it was a bit rubbish - but was great fun nonetheless.

Want to do a roll-call of all the people I said hello to but am afeared of accidentally missing someone off. It seems somehow rude not to. Was nice to say hello to Moose and Aqua after a gap of 4 years. And also thanks to memespring and nipsla for listening to my tedious prattling... hats and the style council?

I did manage to say a first real life hello to Eastender, Tank Girl and dodgepot, foo, bluestreak, felixthecat, Thora, firky, JTG, spanglechick, onemonkey, pyscherlic, zenie - shame I didn't get a chance to chat more.

Actually had a comprehensable conversations with han, Top Cat & Ms Top Cat, madamv, Sparklefish, Yossarian, aurora green and Tort.

Felixthecat's innovative cup holder deserves a mention  And I must apologise for failing to remember Mation's name.

Also a tip of the hat to Agent Sparrow, beesonthewhatnow, BiddlyBee, citydreams, Cpatain Rbubish, Crispy, crustychick, dervish, dolly's gal, editor, eme, onenameshelley, rich!, Stig, Termite Man, wiskey, wrysmile, zora, Onket, sleaterkinney.

The biggest nod goes to the excellent people who made saturday such fun (sorry - don't know your board name Mark!)

Erk.

Were all those people there:oops:?

How many did I meet? Somebody help me out here.

'Twas rather wet and muddy but saturday was ace until I had an asthma attack (1st one in 2 years:rolleyes:) - thank you nice paramedic man for saving me:cool:

For some reason my shoulder and knee hurt........

I am made of monumental fail :D

even by my own standards, passing out blind drunk BEFORE IT GOT DARK on friday was a personal best in years

great to meet LOADS of people but there where still lots I didn't meet

I had a good time, not my personal fave time though, the rain really got to me on saturday (helped by the major hangover) but I enjoyed it - in my own little way :D

I hurt, everywhere

We're just leaving the site now.

I had a great time. Friday was fantastic,Saturday a bit of an ordeal, but Sunday was the best night of all.

It's still my #1 festival!

I have to admit that the rain on Saturday just did my head in. I rather over-indulged in ket whilst sitting in the tent and spannered myself so much so that I was completely disorientated when I tried going to see some stuff, couldn't see anything cos of the water on my glasses and in my eyes, and basically decided "fuck this shit" and went back to the tent again. Friday and Sunday were very special though, and it was great to meet a fair few that I've never met before, notably Idaho and subversplat (sorry you were subjected to a tent full of nonsense mate :D).

Dollys Gal wasn't there btw :D

Moomo: Yeah, kept waking up, realising it was still pissing down and going back to sleep :)

Looking forward to getting jealous at band reviews!

D'you know, I saw loads of bands but I have absolutely no idea who most of them were? I didn't bother with a programme and bimbled from tent to tent to stay out of the rain - and excellent way to do things I think:)

Oh and btw - Kevicious, you were fab:cool:!

So, we're back. I had a great time but like others have said the rain did spoil it a bit. One of the things I like about the festival is that it's really chilled out and you can just sit around chatting and drinking and stuff but obviously we couldn't do that so much. Friday was fun, met lots of new people but I won't list because I'm bound to forget someone. Saturday was a bit rubbish and we spent much of it in our tent but sunday was great. Alabama 3 were brilliant as usual and Who's Afeard were another highlight.

We managed to get out ok, I was a bit worried about the car because it was over-heating on the way there but it was fine and the mud had dried a lot so it wasn't too bad.

just going past brum now *waves at bees and aqua*. Got out very easily by pointing the van at the exit and going hell for leather. That really was one of my best festiivals for ages. Loved the music, the company and the clean toilets. The weather wasn't so bad and the organisers dealt with it very well.

Edit: mr moose wanted to add something about the good selection of well priced food, cheap, rapid towing service and relatively low-key security.

*waves back*

totally agree with all that :) the rain totally got to me but that was more cos I hurt everywhere than the rain as such, we still had a fab day on saturday though :)

loos great, security very friendly whenever I spoke to them, fucking fantastic crepes :D

You actually remember some of it???

Yeah, apart from the first night where I got a rather pissed I was pretty straight for most of the weekend. Sunday afternnon got a bit wobbly but nothing major :)

Good points:

The site, it's just the right size, and was laid out really well. (from a camping point of view anyway, the campervan field could have done with an entrance directly into the main arena, rather than having to come up into camping first)

The lack of hippy cunts, and the overall atmosphere.

Clean toilets all weekend, even the ones right by the main stage.

Bad points:

The weather on Saturday - I don't usually mind rain at festivals, but EiD seems perfect for just sitting around chatting to your mates, and the rain stopped this.

The organisation getting onto the site - Running out of wristbands 40mins after the gate opened isn't very clever, and the stewards on the gate giving them out seemed shambolic at best. They'd be better off getting all the cars into the carpark first, then giving out the wristbands as people enter the site.

Will be back next year for sure, and I might even get to see a band or two!

This is why I slept loads :D. There weren't really any bands I fancied, just wanted to sit around and get pissed talking bollocks :(

it was also lovely to sit and chat to foo and liljen again

foo - sorry for disappearing  I had some passing out to do

and kanda I can't believe I still haven't met you :D

...The weather seemed to have kept a fair number of people confined to tents, but the atmosphere out and about was happy as ever.

Saw a few bands - some of which were good, a couple not so good. Didn't get to see as much as I could have - but no bother.
I had a great time. Raincoat was needed on Saturday but it was well worth being out and about :) The ground was much firmer for getting out today, but we let the train take the strain and are happily home after a fun weekend. :)

Very well done, Idaho, for your cocktail collection

It occurred to me earlier I didn't see a single toilet cleaning operative, a single litter picker, a single rubbish collector all weekend . . . yet it was always perfect :)

I did find it a little sad they served beer in plastic glasses in the bars though instead of paper ones which can be recycled.

or if they had to use the plastic ones, they should have had a deposit on them like at other festies so the kids end up trying to collect them all for the money :)
