Emergency! Emergency! Will you get the alert?

Because it made a loud noise and because it takes ages to send 90 million text messages.

Still whatever you think is right eh.
But the alert included a message so can't be much difference in transmission times between the 2 methods. :hmm:

As a system for alerting the general population, this test has proven it to be an abject failure. That's not a matter of my opinion, that's been objectively demonstrated.

The requirements needed are iPhones running iOS 14.5 or later and Android phones and tablets running Android 11 or later, I am not convinced it's failed on those phones.

This is a new alert system, which would run in addition to current methods, as such interrupting radio & TV broadcasts, and good old fashion text messages.

Best drop Cabinet Office, DCMS, OFCOM and the service providers a note, I bet they were going to spend about six weeks to two months on the analysis of the results, But you can save them all that time.

If you can't afford a new up to date smartphone, you don't get alerted - the undeserving poor wonder what's going on even if they realise anything is going on, and left to fend for themselves come the great day.

You don't get to be part of the test as its not possible.

You don't think others would get alerted by other methods if there was an emergency?

You can stick yer rolleyes where the sun don't shine. Or perhaps in your case, exactly where the sun shines. Up your fucking arse.

The point of some tests is exactly to fail though, and then correct the reasons that caused the failure. It also doesn't need to get 100% of phones to be effective, it would go out alongside TV and radio announcements

And text messages, which have already been proven to work.

hmm I I get an alarm in a week or so telling the king had been coronated the phone might become a flying object :hmm:

The message completely dissapeared when I clicked ok.

Surely they would want some instructions to remain present for the recipients can act on them?

Seems an oversight.
