Driving Standards

:hmm: Where did this happen?
I remembered it wrong as it turns out they were drinking from a bottle of water, but same difference…

There was an apple-related incident as well, and whereas the car was travelling when the driver was spotted, she was just holding it not eating or letting go of the wheel. But it still led to an utter farce that even involved aerial footage from a police helicopter

I mean, not saying it's not ridiculous, but if you read the water story it's not that they took a sip whilst stationary but that they were still holding the bottle as they pulled away and accelerated (changed up a gear). i would argue that you should have both hands free when changing gear, how was she holding the steering wheel and the gearstick at the same time?

Automatic?

Use your knees to steer.

Someone today on the motorway changed lane in front of me without checking mirrors / blind stop. Almost an accident.

Also counted 10 cars with totally illegible number plates due to accumulated grime. Asking to be pulled over really.

Don't you have one of those cars that automatically break when the other persons indicators go on?

No. But I have my eyes which I find work just as well.

They were in front of me and changed lanes and almost hit someone in the lane to the left of me (and them). I’d backed off as I could see what was happening

The leased truck at work used to get a bit mucky bombing along dirt tracks at Coed Darcy, I’d have to make sure to clean off the plate when leaving site.

(note that the time when I did this before we pulled out of site there was a police car sat on the roundabout straight opposite… no consequences)

Oh dear, both pursuit cars as well

Just had some roid rage/cokehead prick in an audi screaming at me and threatening violence because I didn't move over to let him pass. It's a stretch of road that's too narrow for two vehicles to safely pass and everyone always waits at the end for anyone coming the other way. I was already three quarters of the way along this stretch when he drove towards me. I asked him calmly if he couldn't back up ten feet as I had several vehicles behind me but he screamed no, you've got over a metre on your left, fucking move. He then starts driving towards me anyway. I had a foot to spare, not a metre but just about got out of his way in time. No idea how he was planning to get past the van right behind me.

As I passed him I resisted the urge to shout something offensive across at him because the guy was clearly not in control of his shit and would have turned violent. Instead I just calmly asked, mate does it matter that much? Yes, he roared, and you're a fucking dickhead. I left him with that thought and drove on.

Dunno how people like that make it through the day tbh. If any minor inconvenience triggers a violent rage. You see these people about overtaking with oncoming traffic and stuff but actually talking to one was a pretty jarring experience. This sort of thing is why I drive as rarely as I can.
