Highly unlikely I imagine, but that's not what is important to me anyway. It's the shitty, damning publicity. Either way, it's a win.Maybe - as long as the petition doesn't actually, you know, succeed.

Blatantly made-up figure! Not for Scotland, apparently
Donald Trump threatens to pull £700m investment from Scotland - BBC News
Blatantly made-up figure!
32.5 yearsMade up figures have been a core modus operandi of his for decades as best I can tell.
Cunning, he has a cunning plan.I can only assume that you accidentally missed the word "idiotic" out when you wrote that.
Bait. He can point to trouble in both places sadly.Does he in fact know where Paris is?
Q: Does Donald Trump think Paris is in Germany? A: Probably not - BBC News
[Deleted, embarrassed.]Bait. He can point to trouble in both places sadly.
If IS are dishing out fake suicide bombs we can relax. What's happened in Germany over new year is fucked up, but let us get a handle on it, Trump can't really claim the judge first think later mantel after his advert.
What upset Ohio was the contempt the exercise had for sovereignty. The UK parliament debating whether a foreign national access to the UK because a large number of electors have called for it, is a different matter.Wrt the trump petition. Does anyone remember the 2004 election where the guardian targeted one county in ohio and ask its readers to write to the electorate there to patiently explain why they should vote Kerry:
BBC NEWS | UK | Did Guardian turn Ohio to Bush?
The only thing this will do is increase support for trump, certainly among republican primary voters and probably with the electorate as a whole
Is it?What upset Ohio was the contempt the exercise had for sovereignty. The UK parliament debating whether a foreign national access to the UK because a large number of electors have called for it, is a different matter.
Not doing it for fear of what people on the other side of the pond would think is the same thing. Is it?
400,000 pinko lefty European liberals don't like Trump. Much like the pinko lefty socialist Democrat types in the US who also don't like Trump. They don't like him - that's part of the reason why we do.

The reason not to do it has to do with a wider point about state power to decide whose views are acceptable in visitors to this country. tbh this debate, followed by a decision not to do anything, will have a sum total effect of fuck all in the States. Not doing it for fear of what people on the other side of the pond would think is the same thing.
The other 100,000 of us who signed it aren't pinko liberals then.
that's a point that could and should be made in the debate. Not having that debate for fear of the affect it will have on people parliament is not accountable to, US voters and a self proclaimed billionaire, fuck that. The reason not to do it has to do with a wider point about state power to decide whose views are acceptable in visitors to this country. tbh this debate, followed by a decision not to do anything, will have a sum total effect of fuck all in the States.

There is no way any debate wouldn't be massively counter productive. Besides since when the fuck has a debate in parliament ever done anything worth while?that's a point that could and should be made in the debate. Not having that debate for fear of the affect it will have on people parliament is not accountable to, US voters and a self proclaimed billionaire, fuck that.
