Donald Trump, the road that might not lead to the White House!

"This is a story of a period between two World Wars — an interim in which insanity cut loose. Liberty took a nose dive, and humanity was kicked around somewhat."

Thought I would share this with you from Pilger. I guess it could go in a few places but I have settled for here. Hope you don't object.

By the by. Does anybody know where I can buy a poster of the famous blindfold image as shown on the link? It's been around as long as me - almost!

INSIDE THE INVISIBLE GOVERNMENT: WAR, PROPAGANDA, CLINTON & TRUMP

As ever JP makes a compelling arguement - the pertinent paragraphs for this thread are;

To most of us, the American presidential campaign is a media freak show, in which Donald Trump is the arch villain. But Trump is loathed by those with power in the United States for reasons that have little to do with his obnoxious behaviour and opinions. To the invisible government in Washington, the unpredictable Trump is an obstacle to America's design for the 21st century.

This is to maintain the dominance of the United States and to subjugate Russia, and, if possible, China.

To the militarists in Washington, the real problem with Trump is that, in his lucid moments, he seems not to want a war with Russia; he wants to talk with the Russian president, not fight him; he says he wants to talk with the president of China.

In the first debate with Hillary Clinton, Trump promised not to be the first to introduce nuclear weapons into a conflict. He said, "I would certainly not do first strike. Once the nuclear alternative happens, it's over." That was not news.

Did he really mean it? Who knows? He often contradicts himself. But what is clear is that Trump is considered a serious threat to the status quo maintained by the vast national security machine that runs the United States, regardless of who is in the White House.

The CIA wants him beaten. The Pentagon wants him beaten. The media wants him beaten. Even his own party wants him beaten. He is a threat to the rulers of the world - unlike Clinton who has left no doubt she is prepared to go to war with nuclear-armed Russia and China.

Clinton has the form, as she often boasts. Indeed, her record is proven. As a senator, she backed the bloodbath in Iraq. When she ran against Obama in 2008, she threatened to "totally obliterate" Iran. As Secretary of State, she colluded in the destruction of governments in Libya and Honduras and set in train the baiting of China.

She has now pledged to support a No Fly Zone in Syria - a direct provocation for war with Russia. Clinton may well become the most dangerous president of the United States in my lifetime - a distinction for which the competition is fierce.

Without a shred of evidence, she has accused Russia of supporting Trump and hacking her emails. Released by WikiLeaks, these emails tell us that what Clinton says in private, in speeches to the rich and powerful, is the opposite of what she says in public.

This gives Clinton just 2% lead in the latest tracker:
Only 2 points separate Clinton, Trump in latest tracking poll
I'd still expect her to win - and to win clearly. However the return of the emails story, whilst it probably doesn't affect voting intentions directly, will certainly disrupt the way she planned the last few days of the campaign to play out. Also, as mentioned upthread, it all shows what an awful candidate she is.

Also, The continued existance of Weiner, is living proof the Clinton's dont wack their political liabilities.

terrific read from one who knows, thanks for the link

It was a good read, a bit like reading the long piece by that bloke who was chosen to be Julian Assange's biographer (there are some at least superficial parallels there). Same time, I'm not quite sure I buy the extent of Schwartz's remorse. He only signed over royalties on the Art of the Deal to the different charities in 2016. Flatterers get the 8th Circle of Hell.

Has anyone ever left their country after making this proclamation?

Tedious, meaningless, piffle.

It happens - around 10,000 Americans move to Canada every year, and some of them say it's because of their shitty government.

Trump is notoriously vindictive, I don't think Schwarz is exaggerating when he says the US would not be a safe place for him to live if Trump was president.

Trump would certainly change the US forever - Congress could get that much stuff past his veto that the office of President would be forever neutered. He wouldn't be able to go after Schwarz even if Schwarz went on a guided tour of the White House.

Well thats not quite what i mean. You get people in the public eye making stroppy statements about leaving their country if they dont get their way. I've not known any of these herberts to make good on their promise.

A gap yaah type told me about fellow gap yaah types that made good on their promise to emigrate to Germany post-Brexit.

It tends to be an accumulation of stuff. I know people - not posh ones - who left the country after the Brexit vote, but they were people who had already felt for years that Britain was becoming a crappier, more intolerant, and more unequal place.

It's the same with people leaving the US - people who were already eyeing a move and were able to make one might get the final boost they need to leave the country from President Trump, but people living very comfortable lives aren't that likely to suddenly turn around and start new ones elsewhere, which is you don't get many celebrities following through on talk of moving to Canada.

Not the case here. He has the plan in place. Expects trump to come after him if he wins.

WikiLeaks - The Podesta Emails

"You know, I get accused of being moderate and center," Clinton told the audience, in Ohio today, "I plead guilty." There is more. You get the idea. I tripled fact-checked when I saw this reported on cable because I could not believe my eyes or ears. A Clintonian triangulation against liberals at this particular moment in her political life is not the shrewd strategy I would propose. If the next 48 hours to a week bring a story line that Hillary's "banks are robber barons" etc. etc. etc. statements were not sincere, that they were just insincere tilting left to be followed by a triangulating counter-tilt back the other way......hell will hath no fury like the reaction from the Democratic base and the words "not trustworthy" will not be a stranger to the chorus from liberals that will come next. I must tell you, John, when I see things like this, there are moments when I think her candidacy was just not meant to be. I went out on a limb for her today, which very few Democrats who are not paid by her have done recently as visibly and strongly as I did today, and if I knew this kind of thing was coming I would never have done it in a million years.

I don't know what kind of game the FBI dir. is playing, but it's a very dangerous one. He knew putting out that vague letter 11 days before the election would be a bombshell. And he put it out on Fri so the e-main "scandal" remains in the headlines all weekend.
The Associated Press reported that the emails the FBI is investigating did not come from Clinton’s private server. Law enforcement officials told the LA Times the emails were not to or from Clinton, and subsequent reports suggested that some or all of them might be duplicates of messages that the FBI has reviewed already.

I think the game is called 'the law'.
