It only makes sense (to me at least) if there is a possibility those emails have leaked out already and this is an attempt to delay / defuse their impact by claiming that they will need time to investigate the emails; though of course the idea that the head of the FBI would be briefed, and then interfere in a Presidential election in this way, without knowing exactly what was on those emails is patently absurd.

And do the claims of voter fraud have any merit at all?
i know there are laws in some states which end up preventing black people in democratic areas from voting, how big an impact will this have on the result? what about the claims of ballot stuffing etc from the trump camp?

and the electoral fraud carried out so far has been by 1 woman from ohio. Tried the old postal and polling booth scam to double her vote for yrump but was rumbled easily.

Maybe the analysis on this thread simply wasn't up to scratch . Over a third ...and up to a half in some polls...of Sanders supporters state they'll never vote for Clinton no matter what . Theres been very little focus on that issue on this thread . If there's one absolutely certain " silent trump constituency " it's that one . And particularly amongst the legions of fearful, embittered and ruined workers Moores talking about .

And in some of his rhetoric criticising the Iraqi and Libyan wars! withdrawing support for Syrias jihadi plague, and for co operation ..as opposed to military confrontation..with Russia, he sounds a lot less stupid than Clinton . Less ballbaggingly insane , not to put too fine a point on it .

Trump is polling consistently around 1% with black people, depends on the polling but around 90% of Sanders-voting Primary Democrats plan to vote Clinton with most of the remainder not planning to vote Trump.

I think part of this is the media wanting to keep the electorate on tender hooks. I've seen polls say Clinton and Trump are neck and neck in South Carolina, what they neglect to mention is that due to electoral college system, Sth Carolina is a must win for Trump but not for Clinton.
The Key is as always the battle ground states I think Trump has to win 2 of 3 of Ohio, Pennsylvian and Florida, while Clinton isn't in that kind of position.
I think the figure I heard was about 14 million, so thats maybe 1/10th of all ballots.
The figure I keep hearing is that since 2000 there have been about 1 billion votes cast in the US between, State, Muncipal, Presidental, and the House and Senate and there have been 14 proven cases of voter fraud.
Voter surpression thats a real thing.
I dont' think either will be significant, the efforts are localised to counties of some states.
Trumps claims about Ballot stuffing and rigging will only come into effect if the election is close.

I can't really envisage Clinton whacking Weiner .
And for all we know the only thing keeping him alive was that this massive pervert had tens of thousands of confidential government emails on his home computer . And god knows what other secrets he knew given his recently departed wifes very close relationship with Clinton . Quite an insurance policy . Or " leverage " as Clinton would call it . And only now he's under investigation for even more bouts of depravity god knows what he would have had access to had he not been reported and investigated .
He's going to need eyes in the back of his head now though .
