Donald Trump, the road that might not lead to the White House!

Wouldn't that fall under the Treaty Clause (because he only wants to modify NATO, not unilaterally withdraw from it) and require Congressional approval? (edit: sorry, the approval of the Senate)

That sounds to me like a bunch of legal stuff that Trump would have no clue about; and wouldn't give a damn about, even if he did. :(

Apparently if there were really any Hispanics for Trump, they could have told the campaign that the correct Spanish is "Hispanos por Trump."

Pretty sure that por and para would work here, although por sounds better... I think when it isn't being translated from English usually people would use 'con' for stuff like this. The Clinton campaign is 'Latinos con Hillary'.

Also how do you know they aren't Hispanic? Latin American is a cultural rather than racial signifier, plenty of blonde Argentinians.

just read 'Idiocracy' director Mike Judge was approached to do some anti-Trump adverts in the vein of what is a hugely classist film. Wisely, he turned them down. His excuse was that as soon as you pick sideds its not funny anymore

.....not to mention there must be plenty of extreme right-wing Cubans Argentinains and Chileans ( anti-Castroists, Peronists etc ) that I'd think would find Trump's views and pound-shop mussolini posturings if anything pretty weak and imitative stuff compared to the real thing....

As an afterthought - I don't know whether or not you're eligible to vote in the US election, but there's something else to consider.

The next president will be choosing at least one - and possibly as many as three - Supreme Court Justices. That's arguably the most important thing at stake in this election.

Whatever one might think about Hillary - from my perspective, it will be much preferable if the judges are appointed by Democrats.

With Trump and his Republicans, the choice(s) could end up making Scalia seem like a raging Libertarian.

This is the one and only basis for my vote this election. I'm going to have to go home and drink something pretty strong to wash the awful taste out afterward. I won't be the only one--on either side of the election.

They're probably Hispanic - even Marco Rubio technically counts as a "Hispanic para Trump" these days - though maybe a little short on self-respect if they're willing to wave signs in mangled Spanish around at a Trump speech. Guess there wasn't a fluent Spanish-speaker in the room when the sign was being drawn up - even George W. Bush could have gotten it right.

That's one of my biggest reasons for hoping for a Hillary win. Trump named his judges, I'm pretty sure they're all anti-abortion. I haven't seen many deep dives into their beliefs otherwise, but if he does still want to turn the CIA and armed forces into torture units, he's going to have to run it by SCOTUS at some point.

Especially his anti war rhetoric . Imagine they'd be quite happy with Clintons Latin American coup mongering , pro Contra stance, her aggressive military posturing and voting record , mass incarceration programmes and genocidal track record though . As well as her contempt for democracy and barely concealed belief the rules don't apply to her . That she...just like the USA ..is wholly exceptional .

I think Trump may well win. The nasty cunt Katie Hopkins was just on the radio, ranting on about how she'd just come back from a Trump rally and how he is speaking to ordinary Americans and how the liberal elite are blathering on yet the normal working person who's been shat on wants to give them a bloody nose etc.

First reply, "never underestimate the stupidity of the American voter."

Where have we heard this before? Stupid proles etc...

I think after the fiasco of his convention and how surprisingly popular Tim Kaine has turned out to be (the first complaints are that he was "dull" and "safe" and if Hilary should have picked Evil fucking Knevile) he's populist, articulate and principled. His pro life status raised a few eyebrows, but the fact that he's personally pro life but supports the right to choose is moderately impressive. That and the fact that he's taken on the NRA, tobacco and coal despite being from Virginia.

If the democratic convention isnt another multiple clown car crash she'll come out of the convention with a boost that may be unshakeable.

Why a Donald Trump victory is plausible

I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I gave it to you straight last summer when I told you that Donald Trump would be the Republican nominee..... And now I have even more awful, depressing news for you: Donald J. Trump is going to win in November. This wretched, ignorant, dangerous part-time clown and full time sociopath is going to be our next president. President Trump. Go ahead and say the words, ‘cause you’ll be saying them for the next four years: “PRESIDENT TRUMP.”
Never in my life have I wanted to be proven wrong more than I do right now.
......you and your friends are convinced the American people are not going to elect an idiot for president.
......And then you listen to Hillary and you behold our very first female president, someone the world respects, someone who is whip-smart and cares about kids, who will continue the Obama legacy because that is what the American people clearly want! Yes! Four more years of this!
....Coming back to the hotel after appearing on Bill Maher’s Republican Convention special this week on HBO, a man stopped me. “Mike,” he said, “we have to vote for Trump. We HAVE to shake things up.” That was it. That was enough for him. To “shake things up.” President Trump would indeed do just that, and a good chunk of the electorate would like to sit in the bleachers and watch that reality show.

(Next week I will post my thoughts on Trump’s Achilles Heel and how I think he can be beat.)

Um yeah...I actually fucking read it . Not that I agree with everything Moore said . Namely ownership of a vagina isn't a qualification . Someone who happily presided over the genocide of Iraqi children and then voted to bomb them and destroy their country and futures doesn't care about kids...and is indeed unfit for office . The world doesn't respect her either and as regards whip smart she's a fucking disaster . Everything she touches turns into massive fail. Apart from her bank account. Which isn't massive because she's smart but because she's massively corrupt .

And " continue the Obama legacy ":facepalm::facepalm:

The important thing in the piece though is Trump will most likely defeat her .

Can't read that (paywalled) - what does it say ?
Please tell me it's not convincing anyway. Even if its true that he could do only a very limited amount of practical damage should he win the president of the USA contest I still somehow need to be reassured constantly that its just not going to happen.

The pay wall didn't come up first time I went there. Basically it says Citigroup are doing extensive polling on this, wary of another brexit type situation and what the effects on financial markets could be, and the analysts reckon a Trump victory is a very real possibility. As do some other serious type analysts . And they had graphs and charts and stuff .

Now Trump is defending that pig Roger Ailes.
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump defended Roger Ailes on Sunday, calling the embattled former Fox News chief a “very, very good person.”
Ailes resigned as CEO on Thursday following a sexual harassment scandal that included dozens of women......
In an interview that aired Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Trump declined to comment when asked to confirm reports that Ailes was advising his presidential campaign.
“But he’s been a friend of mine for a long time,” Trump added. “And I can tell you that some of the women that are complaining, I know how much he’s helped them. And even recently. And when they write books that are fairly recently released, and they say wonderful things about him.”
“And now all of a sudden they’re saying these horrible things about him,” he continued. “It’s very sad. Because he’s a very good person. I’ve always found him to be just a very, very good person. And by the way, a very, very talented person. Look what he’s done. So I feel very badly.”
