I agree that you will be feeling got at and this wave probably started with me objecting to one of your posts upthread. It isn't just about you , it's about a number of posters who are using the thread to focus, almost exclusively on 'Trump is vile/his supporters are thick'. So yes, can't be that nice ending up at the sharp end of this and, in my liberal wishy washy way, I've said I think there's scope for all kinds of contributions.
But then, and there's always a but then, you and others are others are posting this stuff on a discussion thread. In response there have been posts suggesting a different way of thinking about American populism, posting links and articles around that. Suggesting that if you make 'I'm not interested in that' posts, you will be challenged.
tldr? yeah, but 'if people don't like my posts, please just ignore them' won't wash. This is a discussion board. And a thread, on Trump.
I posted the above intending to meet you half way and then ended up being critical, so I'll abandon all that and just ask a question: There has been plenty on this thread and others about neo-liberalism, about deindustrialisation and the impact on communities as well as jobs more narrowly. All sorts of stuff around populism and authoritarianism. Trying to step away from the unpleasantness of the last few pages, have you found any of that stuff interesting or persuasive?
I ask that question in the context of what others have said about the way their eyes have been opened to new ideas and perspectives by reading stuff on Urban.
