Donald Trump - MAGAtwat news and discussion

The judge was apparently appointed by Trump so I suppose it also depends on how much of a headbanger this one is.

Who knows what he was thinking, I wouldn't bet against that he didn't even know what he was taking, i don't think he spent much time studying documents when he was President.
exactly, i find it hard to imagine it was under his conscious willl to do so...its pretty bizarre

What possible reason did he have for taking these boxes home?
TBF Busy job being President, would have been hard to fit in actually knowing what he potential might/should of known, what with the golf. How do expect him to keep tabs on all of that.

I think he did know what he had (well at the time). Don't think it'll be jail though, disbarred from holding public office seems about the right tone,

He knew what it was. He's been recorded showing the documents to a room of people, telling them that they were highly confidential documents.

It says, "Well, with Milley -- uh, let me see that, I'll show you an example. He said that I wanted to attack Iran. Isn't that amazing? I have a big pile of papers, this thing just came up. Look. This was him. They presented me this -- this is off the record, but -- they presented me this. This was him. This was the Defense Department and him," the transcript said. "We looked at some. This was him. This wasn't done by me, this was him. All sorts of stuff -- pages long, look. Wait a minute, let’s see here. I just found, isn’t that amazing? This totally wins my case, you know. Except it is like, highly confidential. Secret. This is secret information. Look, look at this. This was done by the military and given to me."

It's got to be treason at this point, surely? And either way, surely they have to actually bring the hammer down this time? This isn't Trump doing bad stuff against the little people so it can be "safely" ignored. If the authorities don't take meaningful action, then that's a green light to every rich narcissist who could possibly get their hands on the levers of power, that the United States and all its secrets are ripe pickings for its enemies and anyone else who wants a piece. If they let Trump get away with this shit, then that to me is an indication that the US is a phase of terminal decline.

Not to mention that fact that, given the man's idiocy, every one of his cleaning staff at Mar el Lago could be a Russian spy for all we know. It does seem that he knew what this shit was and wasn't shy of showing it to people and telling them what it was. I suspect he didn't really know what to do with it or what exactly he was going to do with it but was maybe he was holding in reserve because his sly little lizard-brain reckoned they might give him some way of fucking over anyone who came after him, even if it meant compromising US national security because, let's face it, he's entirely capable of doing that.

I would say it cannot be possible for him to stand as President after this, even if he avoids jail, but the US system seems to be remarkably resistant to this.

So did I hear right? He's not wicked, just stupid?
He isn't being done for taking the stuff, which apparently in Trump's mind is no more than ex-Presidents usually do  but for not handing back and lying to the FBI about having the docs when asked to hand them over?
(So on a 'technicality'? And, knowing Trump: So by even asking him, the FBI prove they were out to get him all along?)

He isn't being indicted wrt any of the documents he has returned.

And no, he wasn't going to use them for nefarious purposes, he just regarded them as his, since he'd been President of the United States.
No, of course not.

Sam Nunberg here at approx 53 minutes Today - 10/06/2023 - BBC Sounds

Nunberg used to work for Trump and is now a de Santis supporter

He also said A picture is worth a thousand words, and some of those voters who support Trump only because he's a Republican will be swayed by images of the sheer quantity. 30 banker boxes, with spillage, and Top Secret documents.

It is all very well this documents issue and I hope he gets punished for it but why is he not being prosecuted for inciting the mob to invade the capitol during which the chamber had to be evacuated and people actually died?

I just don't understand this?

Different investigation. He's more than capable of being prosecuted for lots of different things, he's very talented like that.

I meant Treason and Espionage are one thing - but did you see that fucking bathroom?

Fucking biggly nasty.
I hate brown window frames and doors. Gold taps and chandelier style wall lighting - it’s a bit Argos catalogue. All that money and he’s got shower curtains - one of the grossest inventions known to man. There’s nothing worse than trying to have a shower while a shower curtain draws itself to the water flow like a magnet. Sticking to your lower legs, while you just know half the guests who’ve been there before you have pissed on it.

I couldn’t store state secrets in among all that dreadful tat.
