I saw a clip of that on Sky, I thought it was odd he was on CNN when he's spent so much time attacking them as being 'fake news', and totally confused by the audience reaction, until it was pointed out they were mainly republicans and a few independents, not a balanced audience like they try to get in the UK for such a programme.

What the appeal of prosperity theology shows is the desperation of the working class who find that everything they've worked so hard for is slipping away. They're grasping at any foothold they can see just to stay even, however unlikely.

I ran into one of these Christians the other day that is intent on converting everyone. He told me that Jesus never commanded them to do anything except to go out and convert people. He never said that you had a duty to care for anyone but yourself. I suggested that he needed to read Matthew Chapters 5-7 and get back to me about that. Jesus very clearly instructs people to care for the poor, visit people in prison, and welcome the stranger. I swear these modern Christians haven't actually read that bible they're so fond of thumping.
