Donald Trump - MAGAtwat news and discussion

It occurred to me recently that if Trump gets in a plausible end to his reign might be assassination by an armed former fan who thinks he isn't going far enough.
Same thought has occurred to me - they might get someone in charge who's not as restrained and moderate as Trump if that happens.

Look at the republicans not willing to endorse Trump. Pence for instance, he's not endorsing Trump. . . but that's not as great as it sounds. Apart from the obvious, he's being vocal about not endorsing Trump because he thinks he is being too lefty in his stance on abortion laws / immigration / welfare / healthcare issues.

I would ask the same question about Trump, TBH.

With the shit we get served up as potential PMs here, it amazes me it's even worst across the pond.
Land of extremes. Some of the nicest, friendliest, most clever people ever met are from there. But often obscured by the amount of crazy and hypocrisy emanating from the place.

Sometimes wonder why anyone would get into politics there, but then again... grifting pays off and is rewarded in some cases.

Or just someone who is not a lazy, incompetent, and capricious: a farright fuck who is capable of getting stuff done.
unfortunately most of what the Republicans want done is Moonbat it's not poltics it's the sort of stuff you'd get if you got GB news Katie Hopkins and Tommy Robinson in a pub and gave them drugs and strong drink and GUNS lots of GUNS  . The only redeeming feature of trump was his laziness and ignorance of how to get things done so most of his terrible ideas didn't get anywhere because he was was too idle to put the effort in to get them done.
Fortunately while his base is rabid. anyone who hasn't been bitten is voting Biden if only to stop trump.

correct, and this doesn't show up in polls. i am scared shitless of another 4 trump years - "bloodbath", "100% tariffs" (not that it matters to a good libcommie like me, but so much for the free market, eh)- but i'm still cautiously confident that biden will win.

and when he does, it's time immediately to start handing things over.

I hope you're right. The apparent flaming juggernaut of toxic effluent bearing down on the world for collision course in November is noticeably causing me anxiety, both for friends and family in the states and for humans everywhere :(

From the guardian, is this as serious as it seems? I HOPE IT IS!

Trump unable to make $464m bond in civil fraud case, say his lawyers – live

Trump unable to make $464m bond in civil fraud case, say his lawyers

Donald Trump has been unable to get a bond to secure the $464m New York civil fraud judgment against him, his lawyers said in a court filing.

The filing on Monday states that obtaining a bond has proven to be “a practical impossibility”, adding that “diligent” efforts made to secure a bond have included “approaching about 30 surety companies through 4 separate brokers” and “countless hours negotiating with one of the largest insurance companies in the world.”

These efforts have proven that “obtaining an appeal bond in the full amount” of the judgment “is not possible under the circumstances presented,” the filing states.

I thought he had $400m in cash.

Obvs, I never believed it for a minute but I feel sure that was trump's line.

Anyway, to think that no surety brokers will touch him with a barge pole is wonderful to hear.

edit: Silas beat me by milliseconds. Milliseconds, I say!

:D

Time to start seizing and selling properties.

I'd like to think that this would be a "the Emperor has no clothes" type moment to help Trump downwards on his fall from grace. I suspect that the opposite will be true though, it will be spun as The Establishment stealing from Trump because he's a threat and we must help him to fight back.

Maybe both will be true, and the polarised views will be another step on the relentless march towards civil unrest.

Can the Scottish government offer their help to the NY authorities and seize Trump’s golf course and hotel? Would be a lovely way for Yousaf to entertain his nation.

By the way, is anyone else listening to "Trumped" on BBC Sounds?

The shows appear to suggest that in some way trump is a less than completely ethical business person... 😮

He hasn't actually failed to pay it - all they've said is they can't finance it. That doesn't mean his claims to have $400+m in cash (which could be used to cover it) are false. They might be - but they could just be trying to use that fact that he can't raise finance to cover it as a reason for the court to reduce/belay it in some way. The utility of $400m cash is high, and no-one would want to give it away without a fight; even at risk-free (central bank) rates it makes $20m/year. Don't celebrate too early...

They would have to pay for it...can think of million and one better uses of tax payers money

Your post was so sensible that I assumed “belay” wasn’t a typo, and was - reasonably enough - a technical term relating to the securing of assets.

Not, surely, if Trump had been deprived of the asset by the NY courts, and the only assistance required at this end was for local bailiffs assisted by Greater Strathclyde Police to go in and change the locks.
