Donald Trump got turned down!!!!!!!!!

I have sent this because I didn't want to rant too much, thought I'd leave that to mr fish ;)

Hello

I wouldn't normally do this this but I discovered your site and your poll and notice you have included Mr Trump as a nominee. I would like to ask why?? The man is NO scot. His mother may have been but he is american born and bred, please see wiki link below.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donald_Trump

Please only have true scots in your polls in future.
Thank you.

Are you surprised??

If the golf thing goes ahead without the houses the houses will never happen imo. That man is full of shit.

Yes - Just been re-reading the summary conditions. A detailed masterplan & phasing plan is required & if he starts dicking about with that, he could well screw things up totally.

Intresting - Seems he has appointed a whole new set of architects & has a whole new masterplan in mind.

Which is interesting as certain aspects of the outline permission are based on specific plans by the last lot.

If you didn't need convincing that this scheme was an ill-thought out, speculative land grab to begin with, it must surely be obvious now?

No wonder he is playing for more time!

I must offer them my hartiest congratulations! :D

Donald Trump's £1bn golf resort project in Aberdeenshire has been voted the worst planning decision in the 2009 Carbuncles Awards.

The development at Menie was criticised for putting "commercial thinking" over a "beautiful stretch of coastline".

Aberdeenshire Council's infrastructure services committee rejected the plan before Scottish ministers stepped in and gave the development the go-ahead.

Just a reminder of how it can look there without the help of man:

Things are looking tough at Gleneagles just now:

Bosses at the famous Gleneagles Hotel have asked every member of staff to consider redundancy, early retirement or cutting their working hours.

Letters sent to employees at the five-star venue also suggested they think about taking extra unpaid leave.

The hotel has hosted Hollywood stars and world leaders but the global economic downturn has forced managers to relook at staffing levels.

A spokesman said they had not yet finalised redundancy numbers.

BBC NEWS | Scotland | Tayside and Central | Gleneagles staff redundancy offer

All the established top golf courses & hotels in Scotland have now had some form of major financial problems in the last couple of years. What does that bode for an upstart like Trump?

Do you live in Aberdeenshire?

The implications of the application, its subsequent call-in & approval are an issue that affects protected/sensitive land across the whole of Scotland - much more than just an Aberdeenshire thing.

Trump-row councillors saved him £300m-plus

The seven councillors who rejected Donald Trump’s plans to build the world’s greatest golf course in Aberdeenshire appear to have saved the tycoon more than £300million, it emerged last night.

George Sorial, the man spearheading the charismatic American’s bid to create a huge golf resort at the Menie Estate near Balmedie, just north of Aberdeen, says the credit crunch could shave 30% off original estimates for the £1billion proposal.

The Press and Journal can reveal that the Trump Organisation is now securing contracts to cash in on falling material prices, more competitive bids from contractors and the plummeting value of the pound.

And money saved in Scotland could be used to rescue and take over building projects around the world which have collapsed because of economic downturn.

If he can save £300mil from a £12mil investment, he should probably be away sorting out the world's financial problems?

This sounds like just another bit of fluff to keep the papers happy.

No doubt - Hazlehead is very pertinent. It is an established course, within the development zone (most adjacent land is no-mark industrial forest), designed by one of the great names, served by suitable infrastructure & superbly placed but still dying on its feet. They also seem to have paid serious attention to the local golf market in their plans. Something that caught Trump almost totally on the hop. :hmm:

Rats & sinking ships anyone?

(AP) — Donald Trump fired himself Friday from the casino company that bears his name.

Spurned by bondholders, who rejected his effort to buy Trump Entertainment Resorts, Mr. Trump and his daughter Ivanka are resigning from its board.

The company won a fourth extension Wednesday on restructuring $1.25 billion in debt, and some analysts have predicted it will file for bankruptcy protection for a third time if it does not work out a deal with its bondholders.

“If I’m not going to run it, I don’t want to be involved in it,” Mr. Trump said Friday.

How many years had he remained as non-executive chairman before deciding this then?

Been a tough week for golf in Scotland:

The company behind ambitious plans to build a Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course and a luxury hotel on a north-east estate has gone into administration, it emerged last night.

The collapse of FM Developments leaves a huge questionmark over the future of the £40million scheme.

http://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/Article.aspx/1095834

And much more surprisingly, St Andrews is looking for cutbacks:

ONE of the world's most powerful golfing organisations, the St Andrews Links Trust, is planning redundancies as the recession hits golf tourism.

The trust, with more than 250 employees and a £12 million budget, has written to staff in a bid to avoid compulsory job losses

Whilst I do feel sorry for the folk who may be about to lose their jobs, I equally hope that this will once & for all put an end to the lie about corpo-golf as a growing & sustainable part of our economy.

Looks like Trump has a few more worries this weekend:

Trump Baja venture leaves buyers high and dry

Deposits totaling $32.2 million are lost in the collapse of the celebrity developer's hotel-condo project.

<snip>

Investors were told last month that their money was spent and that they wouldn't get a penny back. A single mother in suburban Los Angeles lost $200,000 and won't be able to send her sons to private universities. A Los Angeles-area businessman lost a deposit of more than $1 million on four Trump units, including two penthouses.

The project's collapse comes at a delicate time for Trump, whose casino company, Trump Entertainment Resorts Inc., filed for bankruptcy protection last month. He also is embroiled in a lawsuit to avoid paying debt on the struggling Trump International Hotel and Tower in Chicago.

Trump and his children heavily promoted the northern tip of Mexico's Baja California coast. He sold 188 units for $122 million the first day they went on a sale at a lavish event in a downtown San Diego hotel in December 2006.

<snip>

The Trumps remained buoyant even as the U.S. housing market began to crumble. Ivanka Trump assured buyers in an October 2007 newsletter that all Trump projects were immune to a slowdown.

"In characteristic Trump fashion, Trump Ocean Resort Baja will be the best of the best, and consequently always in demand," she wrote.

All that remains of Trump Baja is a highway billboard with a large photo of Donald Trump that advertises condos for sale. It hovers over a closed sales center and showroom, a paved parking lot, a big hole that cuts a wide swath, drainage pipes and construction equipment.

Trump Baja venture leaves buyers high and dry - Los Angeles Times

I hope that all potential Trump investors in this area are taking note but then again, if they are that greedy/stupid enough to ignore his history of leaving the little guy high & dry, fuckem.

Yet another award for Trump:

They may not seem to have much in common, but last night this group of environmental offenders were brought together at a tongue-in-cheek ceremony to celebrate their eco-stupidity in Edinburgh.

They were all shortlisted in the "stupid awards" for their heroic efforts to "insult the planet and the intelligence of the people of Scotland".

The less-than-glittering affair was organised by Friends of the Earth Scotland and the World Development Movement to mark the release of a new film about the dangers of the world's deteriorating climate. Called The Age of Stupid and starring Pete Postlethwaite,

<snip>

Donald Trump won the much-coveted Ostrich Award for "steamrolling Scottish democracy in order to open the door to developments that encourage flying". Last November, he won planning permission to build a £1 billion luxury golf resort at Balmedie in Aberdeenshire. Mr Trump was not there to accept the award, a statuette of former US president, George Bush.

Here we go again - Yet another incident over public access:

A NORTH-EAST councillor today claimed she was illegally detained after taking photos at Donald Trump’s estate.

Debra Storr claims she was blocked by a security guard after photographing gates at the site of the Balmedie golf resort.

She claimed entrances had been locked preventing walkers and cyclists from accessing the Menie Estate.

Cllr Storr said police arrived and directed the guard to allow her to leave.

And look here:

Neil Hobday, the Menie project director, said: "To find Debra Storr snooping around, illegally taking photos and looking at the locks was simply beyond belief and it way exceeds her authority as a councillor."

http://news.scotsman.com/donaldtrump/Councillor-39intimidated39-as-she-took.5123635.jp

Exactly what law makes it illegal to take photos there? The answer is simple - None whatsoever

So, it seems they like to make-it up as they go along. What other examples of Trump's Law are we going to be seeing applied here soon?

I read your updates and I write replies, and then I delete them.

But I just wanted to say you aren't talking to yourself iyswim  I've been keeping up with this thread for ages.

So thanks.
