So presumably, somewhere in the country there is an empty barracks and local shops will be quiet because of the lack of squadies in the area :)

I started a thread about 6 months ago asking if anyone was planning to protest it and saying that I thought it would be kind of a stupid idea because noone would be sympathetic and it would generally be a bad show to piss on the sports event, and I got jumped on for taking that position as well. The people who were disagreeing with me then are not sticking up for me now even though I am arguing their position when it's unpopular and was arguing the position I'm arguing against then

Which just goes to show that you can't believe what I say

But if I tell you everything I say is a lie, do you believe me?

I think girasol summed it up nicely when she compared the Olympics to Carnaval in Brazil. A break from worrying about the troubles of life, but not a denial that those troubles exist.

There's lots to criticise about the Olympics, but I think lots to praise too. It was a wonderful sportsfest, so why the fuck not enjoy it?

They've missed a trick not setting up a giant funfair as part of the "legacy". That blinking red thing could be turned into a helter skelter, though still not warranting the £15 entrance charge :D

Hang on, i said why i think you think everyone else is shit (apart from jazzy jeff) and said where you'd displayed that sort of attitude. Now you've argued yourself into the martyr position and are now claiming that you're the only one left standing, the last free man, the only one prepared to tell the truth to world that's scared to listen - it's another manifestation of the same attitude.

And you haven't yet linked to the thread or named the people who've let you down/denied you thrice.

It's not really fraud. It's against the law to sell things on the street without a trader's licence and, because it was the Olympics, this was policed very strictly. Only the resale of football tickets is prohibited by criminal law. The police say that most of those arrested for selling on their tickets were cautioned and released.

I couldn't have been more miserable and anti-Olympics prior to the opening ceremony...I couldn't be more pleased that I did a 180 and my my pre-conceptions were proved wrong.

I still think Coe is a mahoosive wanker, mind, but how anyone can say it wasn't a roaring success must have been on a different planet.

I think it is quite a good move by Cameron making Coe the Legacy Ambassador, he was the one after all claiming that legacy would be critical and now he has to deliver. And I think it will be harder to deliver legacy when there is no overriding deadline like there was for the games. Will Coe be able to deliver?

Fair enough.
There were still a few more hundred arrests though. Many for things like robbery and assault. True, not exactly a huge number compared to how many people were there (extra security aside). But a hell of a lot more than 9 as the media seem to have spun it

No idea, but the cunt couldn't give much of a shit to ensure everyone had a fair and reasonable crack at getting tickets nor that the company running the ticket scheme weren't incompetent wankers.

Well for one thing it shows that you weren't on the thread with all of your arguments about Collective Olympic Adventures and so on. Did you just change your absolute position in the last 2 weeks by any chance?
