Literally none, unless it was made in the 1980’s.
I have to reply to this again, because I just remembered an article from an early 90s audiophile magazine, that went something like this...
"We were absolutely amazed at how well these new speaker spikes worked, so we decided to add them to the base of our CD played, and OMG, the difference was AMAZEBALLS!!!!" :D

I got some Rokit 5s a couple of years ago and they seem to be doing fine. I think they are pretty good for the size/price.

They are not my main speakers though; my main spekaers I built myself and are massive and loads better than Saul Goodman 's little Behringer things.

As far as speakers are concerned... easy to spend many hours reading lots of reviews all of which contradict each other. The only real way to decide is to listen to them. What sounds best depends on the listener's preferences, the type of music they'll be used for most, and the kind of room they'll be in. So if you're going to spend a bit of money on them get them from somewhere that'll let you return them if you don't like them. Or do the ebay gamble, get some second hand, and sell them on if you're not keen.

Show me your speakers. Give me their specs... and show me how you calculated the size of the enclosure, damping, porting, etc. (including price).
Or STFU.

teuchter - I have an Arcam Alpha 8 amp and a pair of Ruark Epilogue speakers solely for my PC audio. Don't try the whole audiophool thing on me. I've been there/done that, burnt the T-Shirt.

Nice one... Can you take a picture or two, so I can see what they look like IRL?
I'm afraid not, because it would involve posting photos of my home which I'm not going to do, sorry.

They are simply built from OSB. They are kind of built into a wall/furniture anyway so you don't see most of them. The drivers are Lowthers a bit like the ones installed here. I got them for £10 at a car boot sale, they were in terrible condition but it turns out that if you take them to Lowther they'll trade them in for some new ones for a lot less than the new cost.

They are the first speakers I've had where I'm not thinking about what my next speakers will be. And I've been through quite a lot of speakers.

Fair play... what was the final cost? (excluding labour)

I just had a look on their website, and the price seems to be £410 per driver, or £260 per refurbished driver. Am I wrong... is that for a pair?

I dunno... I actually couldn't remember what I'd paid and I checked in my emails and it was 232 for the pair (they sat in their boxes for some time before I got a chance to build an enclosure for them), but that was in 2006 so maybe you have to add on some inflation to my pricing.

Piss taking aside, fair play if you got them for that price. I've honestly never heard them so can't comment, but at that price you can't go wrong.
I did a lot of speaker cabinet design about 30 years ago, and more recently used software to design a few sets for myself (albeit with less expensive drivers), and I've had some excellent results, but I couldn't see me paying anything like that price (their list price) for a single driver. Although I would and have paid that price for 6 drivers for a pair of speakers, which do sound pretty amazing.

I really don't get the whole audiophile thing (anymore). I used to be party to it a long time ago, but I've come to realise that once I reached and breached 40, my ears were fucked, and, in reality, a 100 quid set of speakers were more than adequate.

I did an awful lot of research before I purchased the Behringer 2031A monitors. I was looking for something to master audio tracks with, as well as use for playing them through for an audience. My brief was "has to cost less than £500. Has to be as acoustically flat as possible (for the price) and has to be capable of being pumped up when necessary. The only monitors that ticked all of those boxes (at the time) were the 2031A.
I took them to my mate's house to compare them to his Rokkit 3s, and he was sickened when he heard the difference. Of course, it's purely anecdotal, but it took me 3 months to decide to buy them, and I bought them based on reviews from not-audio-snobs, and I was torn between them and a second hand set of the Genelec 1031A they were copied from... at about 1/5th of the price (1/10th of the new price of the Genelecs). I never buy Behringer gear, because Behringer, but they're still going strong, 10 years later, and have never been turned off from the day they were purchased (apart from moving them to another room).
A review of them here:

This is them in front of the TV.

There's the whole "Small - Far away" thing going on, but the TV is only 8" behind the speakers, and it's a 49" TV, so they're not the smallest of speakers.

Got the 3031 (same thing with ribbon) and running on my home cinema system. Blown away by them in this capacity. Perfect for movies, at least. You'll never run out of steam. Not had a chance to listen to them for music since the movie/audio room roof started leaking. Hunting around for a third one for centre purposes but they don't come up all that often.

Also have the Behringer DEQ2496 on my other system. I'm sure many other better DSP options exist now but it's done faultless service for 15 years or so.

Similar here, and there's no way I would pay that list price. It's also possible that I could use another cheaper make of the same type of full range driver, put them in the same cabinets and they'd be just as good. I ended up with the lowther things by a fortuitous purchase at a car boot sale.

There's definitely such a thing as rubbish speakers but there's also a point of rapidly diminishing returns once you get to something like £300—£500 for a pair.

I went to a couple of audiophile shows in the distant past, I was less of a sceptic then than now but even so, listened to various 'high end' setups worth 1000s of pounds, which sounded pretty good, but not really any better than something a tenth of the price. One thing that I did quite like was a horn speaker, which is what I ended up building for myself.

Should add that with some speakers, a large chunk of what you're paying for is looks. That's fine though, if you're doing so consciously. They will be sat there in your living room so why not have something you enjoy the look of, just like any piece of furniture. One of the reasons i liked my KEF 105s mentioned in the other thread.

anyone any experience of klipsch floorstanders?

I'm looking to upgrade after xmas but there seems to be so many models and it seems a lot of them are designed for AV/ multimedia use, not just music.

Saw your other thread. I think you should tell the audiophile thread why you want to bi-wire them.

My speakers are cabled with some 3-core flex. And I haven't even done anything clever with the unused earth. Go me, reckless devil.

Nooooo.... you can't do this, think of all the earth leaking out of the cable! You're going to destroy the planet if you don't connect it into something - why do you think earth is always grounded? It's so the earth goes back into the Earth obviously, otherwise all our planet will escape into the atmosphere and we'll turn into a gas planet like jupiter or saturn. Is that what you want? Cos that's what'll happen.

Fortunately I can sell you some end caps for the cable which will stop this from occurring. My crimps look a lot like these cable ends (£8.99 for 70) but in fact they are made of an adamantium/unobtanium alloy to ensure they are strong enough to withstand the various geological forces produced by an ungrounded earth cable. (think how strong an earthquake is - would you trust a standard cable end to hold back that force??).

£8,999 per pair. A bargain for the peace of mind that you are not going to end all life as we know it.
