Doesn't seem to have attracted much attention here. Which is odd given how big a star he was in the showband era. And how few genuine celebs we have (we were reduced to having the state pathologist as a guest on Irish Dancing with the Stars, FFS).

Yeah, saw the obit on RTE and that was it. I imagine he's been forgotten to a certain degree.

Admittedly, thought he was cheesy back in the 80s when we'd left the showband era behind, but over the years he represented a time that's long gone and maybe the boomer generation kept the nostalgia going.
