There are quite a lot of rules about drones in the UK already, although I'm sure some will need to be updated over time.
Specifically, you aren't allowed to fly a drone within 50 meters of a structure, vehicle or vessel that is not under the control of the drone owner.
There are airspace rules too.

You can use one for surveying etc but you need caa clearance insurance etc etc and it has to be an approved model so th whole things a massive headache.
But then dropping 10kilos of drone on someone from height is going to hurt.

Some research groups are directing their efforts into producing micro drones, eg the TU Delft DelFly Explorer and similar which weigh in at only a few grammes thus minimising H&S risks (amongst other advantages - cost, visibility, power consumption,...):

The army has a silent micro drone with a camera that can fly into a room.
While they were testing one was lost and trodden on when squaddies were sent to look for it.

Has anyone post cyborg unplug yet?
Im a bit confused as to what it does, but its designed to stop invasion of the home from hidden video cameras etc, and seems to work on drones as far as I can tell.

Only if the drones rely on piggybacking your wifi to transmit, which I don't think they do.
Wifi is encypted anyway, if I was planting a bug I'd go for a 3G bug every time. Or good old fashioned radio.

Got one. Some real estate bastard was flying one over my property to get photos of the house next to mine so I shot it down with an Adler A110 shotgun loaded with #5 steel birdshot. It took me three shots to get it so we are still waiting for Urban's first single shot drone kill.

I don't know why, but this thread gives me waking nightmares about the thought that if my mother spotted a drone, she'd probably become enraged and try to shoot it down. She's actually a good shot, and one of the reasons that I'm thankful that it's a bit of a palaver to get (or at least keep at home) real guns in this country. She'd be scary with a proper serious weapon.
