Cyberpunk 2077

I'm playing this now, on a PS5. If you buy an actual DVD version you get an option of a free (yes £0.00) upgrade to a PS5 version. I downloaded that and installed it instead of the PS4 version I got from CEX. I'm a few hours in, through the (awesome) prologue, just wandering around gazing at stuff. Whatever graphics issues the PS4 version had, the PS5 version certainly doesn’t.

I did play the tabletop original many years ago, I think this is a worthily scuzzy, vile, brutal successor tbh. I'm still a bit overwhelmed by it to give decent commentary, but I'm very very impressed. Best PS5 game I've played so far  sorry, forgot to quote, Johnny Vodka spitfire

Sorry I didn't read the whole thread! The PS5 upgrade has already been mentioned... I also want to add that the soundtrack is absolutely amazing, techno, dark ambient, all kinds of metal. Driving a stolen car around this horrible dystopian hellscape just listening to the radio, fantastic :D

A few more days and I'm still well impressed. It's basically a dynamic, open-world-style Mega City One, and I think I've been waiting for that since I was about 10 years old. And it's huge! The districts in and around Night City are fascinating and distinct, the missions are engaging with well-crafted characters that fit perfectly in the world they inhabit. The combat and hacking (=magic) systems are really fun, the driving mechanic works great (motorbikes are especially good) and the vistas are consistently jaw dropping and seamless. Plus sex lol. It may be a while till I get bored of this game. It's a beautifully realised Cyberpunk / 2000AD / Mad Max world, really excellent work.

I loved it. One of the few games that was over to quick for me. I normally struggle with time to complete RPGs. I did on Geforce Now which was a pretty amazing showcase for the service. Now I've got a half decent GPU I'm waiting for the DLC and I'll start a new game a play it through again on ultra wide screen. Only bit I thought was meh was the brain dances.

Ah I like those parts! The side quests are great, plenty of rescue/retrieval missions that can easily be achieved in several ways, for replayability. There are moments of real pathos, and humour is never far off, that's why it's so very reminiscent of 2000AD, not just for the immense sprawling metropolis full of cyber-fuckups. I've been playing as an ex-corpo netrunner, but when I play a second run through it'll be as a thuggy scavenger .. total mad max vibes :D

I tried playing Returnal, streaming from my laptop, via Geforce Now on an Nvidia Shield, wired to the router and wired from there to my laptop and it just kept crashing. Gutted really as I was quite pleased that I didn't need anything else to play it, like a subscription.

Not used the Shield, but why do you need a laptop in the mix?

The game was on there rather than the Geforce Now servers.

Ah, local streaming. It's something I need to explore now I've got a decent graphics card. I'm mostly pretty happy playing on my PC, but when my partner goes out it would be nice to play games that work with a pad on the big TV so I can hang out with the dog.

I've got an old firestick I've been meaning to experiment with.

Yeah, it's a cool concept. Not sure what was going on with the network tbh but I'm going to give it a try with another game before I write it off.

I've no experience but I think there are similar services for local streaming. I remember the name Parsec from when I was looking round.

I'm about 6 hours into my second play through, in anticipation of the DLC. I think it starts at some point in Act 2, so I'm just doing more side missions etc in Act 1. I think it's the only RPG I thought was over to fast and probably rushed through it a bit quick as there's been a few games I enjoyed, but never finished as they were so dam long, such as Witcher 3.

Seem to manage to get around 45 to 60 fps with everything maxed at 3440 x 1440 now I'm playing locally which seems to be enough for me. :)

I'm part way through a second playthrough but haven't touched it in a month or so, I reckon a new game might have to be started..

I haven't pre ordered the DLC but I'm hoping that is good too.

I've always thought Cyberpunk was a good game, so hopefully this is a win win.

Started it this afternoon. I like it. Instantly avoided the plot and went off on a run around the city. Then did the plot mission and got access to my car. Anyway, looks good so far. Looking forward to customising my character. Gonna make an uber nerd.

I've started this time as the corporate person. Looonnnnngggggg intros.

They all are, I like the corpo intro because you fly across the city and it's a beautiful (intentional? I hope so) tribute to Blade Runner. A literal overview of the game space. I've started a new playthrough as a corporate too, I'm halfway through on a nomad but at level 40 the character system was a bit overwhelming, starting again seemed best. That's my excuse

There are fuckloads of changes, it's like a new game. And it looks better even than before. But my immediately favourite change is that if some gang start attacking you and any police see this, they will attack the gangsters. Night City street party! Plus there are a lot more people and vehicles in the street, so it feels way more chaotic when things kick off. All very good!

Well I was up until 1:30 playing the Konpeki plaza mission.

Very good stuff. Had one bug where I kept falling through the elevator floor but the Internet fixed it and apart from that it was great.
