There's no future in England's dreaming
Yeah, I searched, threads are a bit old. So I’d appreciate some new advice. Only going for three nights in April, staying pretty central, somewhere near/in Tivoli, would be appreciative of some tips for a good time.

From the old threads I understand Christiania is a must (and handily close by) and perhaps a restaurant called Spiseloppen. And that editor Boris Sprinkler and belboid among others might be able to help.

Can’t walk miles but can walk slowly. Good looks, good food, um a smoke? , etc etc.

Please advise.

Ok, I could have searched harder. Please spare me the ire.

Manfreds? Do you need to book these places?

And I thought that I “must.do.better”. ;)

C’mon peeps. Spymaster you must have been no?

Culture blah blah blah. Pretty things blah blah blah. Spending not too much blah blah blah.

I was a bit disappointed with Christiania but it's still worth a visit

Not sure what I can add to what I said on the thread you must have found already! Spiseloppen was great, you'll find your smoking requirements easily met in Christiania. The Little Mermaid is shit. Nyhavn is the prettiest spot to amble around, not too big at all. I think the danish War Resistance Museum is near there, and that was great, very moving. The Church of our Saviour is pretty groovy - its got a spiral going up the outside of its spire. Which does get a little dicey in places, especially if there is some mofo with a massive rucksack on.

We went just after they'd first shown The Bridge, so we had to get a car and drive over it too, so had a nice day out in southern Sweden, and nipping to Elsinore and a brilliant modern art museum (Louisiana, I think) which may well be doable from the city centre without a car.

Eating/drinking - we were there in summer booked into Spiseloppen earlier on the day we wanted to eat, it's probably worth it if you want to be sure of getting a particular night. Other than that I recall the Laundromatt was a good aplce, and one other was good, but I can't remember its name offhand.....a mini scandi chain iirr, we saw one in Rekjavik too. I'll try to remember what it was called!

Oh, and - bikes, bikes were cheap to hire and the best way to get around the city if you can.

I live in Copenhagen but I'm tight fisted and don't eat out so probably can't help much. It's s great city, super easy to get around especially with a rented bike. Lots of easy walks, when I first came here I just used Google maps and wandered about. Loads of places to swim in the sea, even in April, nice beach walks at Charlottenlund which is easy to get to on the train. When you feel overspent, get packed lunch stuff from Lidl, there's a couple really central. Oh and don't bother changing any money, contractors cards work everywhere including to access public toilets.

We stayed at the Tivoli Hotel which was a really nice hotel, with a swimming pool and sauna, plus restaurants and bars etc. It's a 10-15 min walk from Central Station and Tivoli gardens, or there's a bus stop right outside with regular buses which take a few mins to Tivoli Gardens / Central Station (where you can change for buses to anywhere else, or the Metro or train). The hotel is also 5-10 min walk to Fisketorvet - big shopping centre with restaurants/cafes and a Lidl.

You can get a City Pass which includes a travelcard and entry to loads of tourist sites but they're quite expensive, you'll probably have to work out if you'll get round enough sites to make it worth it (you can do that quite easily on the website). We just got a normal travelcard for the weekend and paid separately for any tourist attractions. The buses are great, just use google to show you the routes near where you want to go, they are reliable and it's a nice way to see the city too!

I would quite happily spend many an hour at the end of the Stroget (sp) with the beautiful colourful houses and the bars. It's a really really nice place and not far from where you are planning to be

Loads of good restaurants and bars in Kodbyen, and some proper Danish pubs (v smoky) in the streets just north around there and Istedgade.
What sort of food are you looking for?

Not fussy. When in Denmark, eat like a Dane? Affordability seems the problem. But I'm not going there to eat burgers and pizza particularly.

Get some smorrebrod for lunch. I went to Peder Oxe for that once and it was pretty good. Or go to Torvehallerne in Norrebro and there is a nice one there. Its an indoor food market.
Reffen is a big place with lots of 'street food' restaurants. I had a big Danish Christmas lunch there once that was good and cheap. You can get the harbour ferry to it from Nyhavn.
And eat lots of hotdogs.
If you're staying nearish Tivoli then the proper old bodegas in Vesterbro (Bodega 54...there is also a 'Spunk' bar that I have never had the nerve to go in) are best value for a beer.
Christiania is nice for a wander during the day but I don't think its a particularly fun place.
