The Batman films were brilliant for reasons other than Bale's acting. It would have been very difficult for him or anyone else to steal the thunder, seeing as the films were so acomplished already.
Regarding his personal life, to be fair to Bale, if we are to use fights, incidents and altercations to judge him, I guess every other actor is also a twat.
He does seem to be typecast into certain characters though. I can't imagine him on a comedy role, try as I might. I'm not sure he could smile convincingly enough.

Reading 'Adventures in the Screentrade' by William Goldman has led me to believe Bale's behavior is par for the course. He's the star, and everyone has to do what he says.

IRL the director would have said take 5 and ushered the DP off the set for 5 to get Bale to calm down.
Plus technical people do move around during shoots. They aren't allowed to make sounds but they don't all freeze like statues the moment they shout action.

I've just spent three months on a movie set, a big one, overseas, six days a week and 12 hours a day. What experience do you have then?
The only reason Bale is being given the arselick is because if he walks, the movie gets canned or the reshoots with a non-cuntish actor cost twice as much.
Him threatening to walk off unless Hurlbert gets fired is unprofessional bollocks, and if you think otherwise I hope we never work together (assuming you work in film & tv).
Oh and I never once said 'if he spoke to me like that I'd've decked him blah blah'... that would be professional suicide.

I wonder how many warnings he had been given until Bale was so pissed off that he felt he had to make his point this way. Not that I'm saying its a good way and that there aren't better ways of getting your point across.
