I dislike when urban picks on someone. It often happens and seems to follow a predictable format usually with tens of people picking apart one single posters responses, joining in to put the boot in. It is never edifying. It recently happened to someone else, again I think without just cause, and I didn't say anything, this time I thought I would say something.

But the point remains my position in this particular incidence was an issue with bungle from his first post on here because of how he is so unbending and lacking in understanding and empathy across the forum.

While some people have been harsher than I would have liked, their point was in line with mine.
And they are people I have found to HAVE understanding and empathy across the forum in other places.

Sometimes, posters succeeding in so badly pissing off so many people that it is understandable, if not necessarily fair, that they decide to give as good as they get. And sometimes, people might feel they want to support or defend their friends if they've been getting grief from the poster in question.

So, even if discretion might now be the better part of valour - it's pretty obvious that Bungle is struggling to hold it together, and I don't suppose any of us want to be the one who actually pushes him over the edge - I think it's inaccurate and unfair to start characterising the situation as one in which people have been ripping in to him for no good reason at all, by using terms like "feeding frenzy".

As I've said, I'm not whiter than white on this matter, but I have watched Bungle's responses with increasing dismay, and I think that there needs to be some kind of way of bringing the situation to an end before it goes badly awry.

Perhaps this is the point where people should be posting pictures of fish?

When it's ten against one there's normally 7 or 8 who have a genuine interest in the argument and 2 or 3 who are queueing up to take a swing at an easy target. Should the 7 or 8 give up in favour of the underdog?

I don't think Bungle was struggling to hold it together, I think he made a mistake in trying to respond to everyone who had a go at him which was probably unnecessary. But when a thread becomes fast moving often posters lose track of what has actually been said in their urge to get their responses in.

As I think I said, this was not the only example of a feeding frenzy (and I do like that as a description) there have been others and I have held my piece, this time I decided to say something.

I think once someone has made a point, there is little need for others to pile in and repeat it, but that sometimes happens because it is hard to keep up with a fast moving thread. It isn't pretty though.
