About a hundred years ago, a child in its pushchair was blown onto the tube line. This fact can now be forgotten as it is merely a catalyst for the subsequent postings. Bungle answers (it is after all a transport thread) because of a slip of the tongue and the manner in which he replied, Toggle cried sexism and a few others started to reply in various manners. As he is trying to fend off this first wave (still in Bungle fashion) he makes another slip regarding the percentage of male and female online (or something) More posters pile in and the replies become much more, well, everything, funny, abusive, sarcastic etc., etc. Toggle cries sexism.
By this time the child had been run over by a tube train and was being scraped off the tracks.
Then came yet another twist in this getting to be epic fuck up. The gender of Toggle was mistaken (or something) cue silence, pin drop, tumbleweed etc. Now the floodgates were open and it is open season on Bungle.
Toggle of course etc. etc.
He is trying to fend off dozens of posters coming at him from all three fronts. The struggle is long and brutal. No sooner is he down on one front but pops up on another. He is fighting on all three fronts against tens of posters. No man can stand this for long. He does his best, but as with all internet contrarians he is eventually trolled to meltdown. There are a few half hearted attempts to goad him into a further frenzy (DoggyQ) but to no avail. Toggle cries sexism but his/her heart isn’t really in it. The thread is still limping along but without any of the vitriol of the glory days.
The remains of the kid were buried a few days ago.
This is a true and faithful account of the thread.
I remember a strange conversation with him about some shite popcorn movie. He thought an IMDb rating PROVED unequivocally that this film was good and I was out of order for begging to differ.
I replied to a post of his, yes, where I thought his use of the term "feeding feenzy" was unreasonable. This is the last I will say on the matter.
But, we were talking about how weltweit called us out.
Am I right in thinking you just started the conversation with him (not the other way around) about this stuff yourself? Yes he said that there were plenty of people butting the boot in but...
Fair enough if I am wrong. I am losing the plot a bit here.
That process had already begun. But I think Urban may have been giving him the benefit of the doubt.and you proceed to out yourself as a seriously nasty shit stirring cunt

There's a lot wrong with this thread, and the stick that Bungle has taken is nothing to be proud about, but your snide attempts at revisionism are now blown wide open by this blatant, and frankly twisted, effort.About a hundred years ago, a child in its pushchair was blown onto the tube line. And what about the "shite" you threw at me (that had been going on for pages and pages), first? Or doesn't that matter?Considering the responses I've had on this thread to the shite bungle threw at me, I'd suspect he's more than overplayed his hand with that particular characterisation. some of his previous 'brave defender of the embattled underdog' was borderline believable, this isn't even close.
although looking at what was put on her profile page, I would like to know what 'experiment' she is refering to.

It's entirely possible SL's just messing about or something but still, I'd have thought someone would've pulled him up. Never mind though, late to the party.pushchairs should be banned from the tube to be fair
I really, really do think you need to drop this, Bungle. It has been quiet on this thread for quite a few days, now - even in your absence, people have seen fit to calm down and leave well alone. And what about the "shite" you threw at me (that had been going on for pages and pages), first? Or doesn't that matter?
I wouldn't bother replying as a) you will probably continue playing the "innocent", b) I have zero interest in anything someone like you has to say, and c) I probably won't come back to this thread to read it anyway, as I can't be bothered to get into another fight here.
Thanks to the people who have defended me here.
It went unchallenged because the substance of it, if tongue in cheek is a fair summary of what happened. (Apart from the baby bit, you know the whole point of the thread) There have been plenty people calling me cunt this and cunt that, but nothing specific about the actual substance.Post of the thread
Tell you what though, I'm surprised this post went almost entirely unchallenged...
It's entirely possible SL's just messing about or something but still, I'd have thought someone would've pulled him up. Never mind though, late to the party.
But what a party it was though Next time I get pissed, I may have to tattoo "BUNGLE 4 LYF" on myself with an unsterilised sewing needle and a bit of cotton as a self flagellating act of homage to the now undisputed king of urban.
Accepted.I hope you can interpret this post as the olive branch it's intended to be
you're so damn' reasonableI really, really do think you need to drop this, Bungle. It has been quiet on this thread for quite a few days, now - even in your absence, people have seen fit to calm down and leave well alone.
This would have been (and maybe still is) a golden opportunity for you to let the matter drop: even if you feel you have still been wronged, it was quite clear from the way the thread was going that the fight to stand up for what you felt you needed to was causing you great distress.
For your own sake, please, just drop it. Nobody has come out of this covered in glory - not me, not you, nor many of the others who have contributed - and about the best thing that could possibly happen would be that a line gets drawn under it, a collective deep breath is taken, and we all try and take away some kind of lesson from the situation.
But for that to happen, the line has to be drawn. And we are going to need your help and co-operation in doing that. I hope I can speak for a fairly large chunk of Urban in saying that, if that line can be drawn, and a clean start made, there is no reason why things should have to carry on the way they have been.
However, I also think that you are also going to need to spend a bit of time in front of the mirror, and asking yourself what you could do to minimise the potential for your contributions to turn into massive bunfights. Regardless of whether or not you feel you are right or wrong in what you say, it is very clear that there is something about how you say things that causes conflict, and it would be useful for you to explore - privately, not having to admit anything to anyone else - if there are changes in the way you respond that might help the situation.
You are clearly very knowledgeable about aspects of transport, in particular rail. As something of a railway nerd myself, I am always interested in hearing snippets of information and useful stuff about it all. I am somewhat less interested in opinions which, to put it charitably, have a tendency to be put across in a very black and white way. You could contribute a lot, but it would be worth so much more if it were done less confrontationally.
I hope you can interpret this post as the olive branch it's intended to be, and maybe see this point in the thread as a turning point.
It comes over me in waves, sometimes. It'll probably pass.you're so damn' reasonable
Yes that was unacceptable for Bungle to call Toggle a bitch. He did it at post 382 and up to that point he had been called variously, twat, wanker, cunt, bellend ,penis by a variety of posters, so you see, the introduction of abusive language had been going on for more than twelve pages. That of course does not make it acceptable, however Id have been a lot more sympathetic to the offence caused if the person in question hadn’t then referred to me as “a seriously nasty shit stirring cunt”A stunning summery there alan.
You did miss the comedy gold of Bungle defending accusations of sexism by calling a woman a bitch. The guy's a legend.
But we're drawing a line under it. Aren't you?Yes that was unacceptable for Bungle to call Toggle a bitch.
