Interesting fact:

Ysgol Gyfyn Rhydfelen (Now Ysgol Gyfun Garth Olwg), the first Welsh medium secondary school in South Wales, was opened in the village of Rhydyfelin near Pontypridd, on 6th September 1962. In 2006, the school moved to a new site in Church Village and today, has approximately 1000 students, ninety-two percent of whom come from homes where the first language is English.

I posted this on our sofa thread but thought I'd better post it here too-

The IRIS film fest is on and Ted Brown will be there for a few days for the premiere of this:

Premiered at Cardiff's IRIS film festival on 11th Oct 2023

BFI Doc Society | Ted & Noel

With a related community workshop with Ted Brown on the 13th October that I haven't heard details of yet
I've been campaigning with Ted all year, he has had a hellish few years - as this film should explain. Please support him if you can he will be there for q&a and a lgbtq+ community workshop.

Thanks for posting, doesn't look like it's on at a time I can get to but hope it does well.

I'm going to be up in the Diff on the 28th - I'm going to see the punk rock exhibition on the Sunday, but to get in the spirit of the thing, I'm going with some mates to see Wreckless Eric at the Moon. Anyone going?

Maybe not sure yet

Aberpergwm still got years left tho hasn't it? or were you just referencing Port Talbot?

The end of the Merthyr area one (Ffos-y-Fran) for steam coal was yesterday (in driving snow !) - but the Aberpergwm anthracite licence being upheld seems a remarkable development. If it happens !!!

Yes - I was referring to one type of coal - the other was not expected !

Looks like Kevin Brennan is standing down in Cardiff West. I can't begin to imagine what sort of wanker will be the candidate now
Yes indeed. There is an independent candidate standing:

John Urquhart

Don't know very much about him but as of right now I'm more inclined to vote for him that anyone Labour has on offer. I had already decided I wasn't voting Labour anyway.
