Car owners in routine outbreak of extreme selfishness

These people are 'infuriated' because bus drivers keep asking them to stop parking their cars on a public road in such a way as to obstruct a public service.

I think the council should paint double yellow lines on both sides of the street immediately, so that bus passengers can stop having their time wasted by these idiots.

I mean look at that gap... You'd get a fucking bus through there.

I think a better option would be to remove the estate from the bus route, and let its residents walk the few yards to a bus stop at the main road. This would not only make for a more efficient bus service, but would result in a massive reduction in nox and other nasty emissions.

My brother in law was driving a fire engine* to a callout once and people were parked in such a way as to obstruct the engine in several places.
He always chuckles to himself at the memory of his on-the-spot decision. I don't think the owners of the former cars do. :)

* - he used to be a fireman, he didn't steal it

Perhaps the car owners could invest in doorbells so their doors aren't banged on

Or perhaps the cars drivers should stop expecting to be able leave their private property lying around wherever they want in a public space.

They council should lift any inconsiderately parked cars and crush them, and dump the resulting cube of metal on the former owners doorstep. No compensation. The same should apply for shithead drivers who park on pavements.
There are no signs or double yellow lines to prevent people parking there, so I'm guessing the local council don't see it as a problem. The only evidence we have is that there's plenty of room for buses, and that maybe the bus drivers should be trained to a better standard.

They probably don't, because they don't really care about bus users. They do care about the kind of people who feature in the news article - and people like you - who will vote them out of power if they do anything that looks after the transport needs of those with the fewest options rather than the car owning majority. No doubt you are looking forward to the pothole repairs the Tories have promised you and their other cheerleaders.

Bus drivers all over the country are doing this, here’s one in Godalming a couple of weeks ago...

Fucker sat there for ages causing gridlock in the area. Yet like the hero in the OP, this dick could easily squeeze a bus past the legally parked blue badge holder.

The problem is contactless payments. These have removed a key weapon in the arsenal of bus-driver arseholeness, namely the refusing the passenger a ride cos they don’t possess the exact change for the £3.38 fare, so they hold up traffic and delay their passengers instead.

As long as they aren't holding up other buses, of course buses causing gridlock is to be encouraged. Now that more cars automatically shut the engine down when they are stopped, they likely cause less harm trapped in a traffic jam than they would if the owners could drive around freely. It also discourages them from being so selfish next time they come into town. Time to put a stop to the habit of driving to the godalming waitrose to buy a loaf of bread and country life magazine. Anyway, the waitrose in guildford is better.

Off topic but I will never forget the time I got on a bus with a fiver and was told by the driver that he didn't have any change. So I said "well that's not my problem is it. I have the means to pay so I'm getting on this bus" and strolled onto the bus and sat down. Somehow, he found some change. Wanker.

I always press the button in mine to override that so the engine doesn't shut down.

Was only buses, delivery vehicles and blue badge holders held up, no one else drives through town during the day.

And Waitrose is at the other end of town and its car park entrance unaffected, though the buses that pass it couldn’t get to their stops cos of this cunt.

And I really wouldn’t know if the one in Guildford is better or not, never been in either, I imagine it’s full of awful people like you.

Stagecoach PLC, making millions for its shareholders, whilst blocking roads paid for by the taxpayer.

round these parts most people have to buy permits to park on the road....perhaps that's the answer nationwide for car owners/drivers.

Good show. Buses are for failures anyway.
I wouldn't go that far, and, in fairness, even people who aren't capable of passing a driving test should have access to some form of transport. Most of them should use a bike... but if they're incapable of passing a driving test, maybe they shouldn't be allowed out on the road on their own, so public transport may be their only option, but they should probably be placed in a higher tax bracket to offset the costs to the rest of us.
