Burger Thread. Yes!

I don't think I've ever seen those, I assume they are less dense than a regular English muffin (which I think would be a bit much as a burger bun)?

Will keep an eye open for them.
I would say that they're a little bit more dense / aldente if you will version of a bread bun. I honestly don't know why they're called muffins

They hold their shape, taste great, basically I'm sold - Tesco's round out way stock them

Today was miserable in many ways, so inspired by this thread I decided to make burgers for tea. OMG. I've never made a better burger  Perfectly cooked patty (I usually fuck it up somehow), in a cheap sesame bun (weirdly my favourite); dijon mustard, ketchup and red onion on the bottom half of the bun, then the burger, then sliced gherkin/tomato/lettuce, and mayo on the top bun. The kind of burger that you can't put down once you've started eating it :D but still reasonably sized enough to get in the mouth.

Served with crunchy golden home.made chips, of course. FIT.

Thanks burger thread :)
Hmmm, if there are no pics, it didn't happen.

Buns of choice if eating in...large granary rolls.

Granted I'm basing my need for a Wendy's burger on what may be a coming up to a 40 year old memory but you can keep your 5 Guys burger
Totally. 5 Guys are massively overrated. I’d love to try an In-N-Out burger though. Also Mooby’s (Kevin Smith’s pop up restaurant). His burger’s called a Cow Tipper and the BBQ chicken sandwich is called a Cock Smoker. And you can get a side of Hater Totz.

Some one, I think, in the mists of time, on this very thread mentioned Sheldon oven bottom muffins as being an excellent burger bun

I can confirm that I have yet to find a better bun. A muffin, in the conventional sense, they are not but a far superior burger bun they most certainly are. At "around" £1 for either 6 or 8 (can't remember which) I would strongly recommend any of you home cooking burger crowd to give them a go - I will be surprised if there is any, genuine, disappointment
We really like them, even enough to forgive them for their provenance. EDIT- just seen Epona's palm oil comment. Checks supermarket aisles for organic Yorkshire bread cakes.

Is this admissible on the burger thread or nay? It’s a “dirty plate” my local burger place has started doing, and features chopped up burgers as part of the toppings.

Fries, chopped burgers, bacon, chipotle Mayo, sliced mild chillies, lettuce, salted creme fraiche, cheese and spring onions.

No burger buns were harmed in the making - apologies for any offence caused to burger purists!

I’m gonna order one as takeaway later this week or next, but doubt it will look this pretty once turned out onto my plate at home, so using the restaurant’s own pic.

Finally got around to ordering this as takeaway and it was fucking great. Definitely a bit of “a mess” as hash tag put it, but the flavour combos were amazing and yes, it was chopped up burgers on top, so even if it lacks a bun I'm putting it in this thread

I am definitely warming to this concept - especially given how "conventional" burgers are getting stacked higher and higher in an inedible tower of goodness - this seems to be a perfectly acceptable solution

The only sticking point I see, is the lack of bread / bun - "maybe" a the top half of a large bun, toasted placed on top with the fries acting as the bottom half of the bun - just thinking out loud, looking for a solution

Something like this, maybe?

I'm just going to come out and say "it"

Sloppy Joe's - they could be what we've all been looking for in a home made burger... but more so
