Classy. Playing party games with sexual assault. You can do better than that…..
Seriously. What the fuck are you on about? If you want a grown up discussion try answering the question put to you first rather than making an absolute dick of yourself with ludicrous claims of 'playing party games with sexual assault."

So how many tens of thousands of innocent women and children do you feel should be slaughtered in response to Hamas's horrendous original attack? Or are you all for total genocide?

What do you think is adequate sanction then?

If Israel state had joined up with International criminal court ( the ICC) which in end it didn't it could have referred war crime allegations to it for investigation.

But it's not part of ICC.

Secondly they could have targeted leaders of Hamas ( which they have done before). Not saying I agree with that. But it's better than collective punishment.

What IDF / Israeli government are doing now in Gaza is the Dahiya military strategy taken to extreme.

Dahiya doctrine was developed to use against armed groups by destroying infrastructure etc so in end civilian population withdraw support from armed militants. First used in Lebanon by IDF

It specifically targets areas with overwhelming force. Destroying civilian infrastructure and economy so much that it would take years to rebuild. Idea being civilian would stop any support for armed militants.

The criticism of it is that it is tantamount to collective punishment of a civilian population.

Secondly as this Israeli online magazine reports in case of Gaza the guidelines for targeting armed militants like Hamas have been so reduced that those compiling targets are not all happy with this. Basically it used to be that targets of leaders of Hamas would only be agreed if civilian casualties could be minimised. This is no longer the case

As has been shown in Gaza

Report here

There needs to be a UN ceasefire.

With investigation of war crimes on both sides

Secondly as head of UN says dealing with the context. That is the ongoing lack of state for Palestinians/ illegal settlement building in West / settler violence over the years. Etc

Head of UN got a lot of stick for saying there is a context to this. That this didn't start on 7th October.

Article on Corpus Christi church on Brixton Hill.

The only time I've ever been in there was for the funeral of Pat, landlady of the Albert.
Does anyone have any photos of that day? It was quite a gathering.

Hi all brixton locals - for those of you who don't frequent the community boards - The U75 South London Drinks festive perineum drinks will be in the Prince Regent on the same as the Tatterjacks are wassailing there on Friday 29th from 5pm.

edited to correct the day - whoops

Ah bugger. I'm DJing that night. Oh wait - it's Thursday?

The SLD thing is definitely Friday 29th - 5pm onwards, open to the idea of starting earlier if people are keen / want to follow the tatterjacks around a bit.

Apologies if there is a dedicated thread on this I’ve missed. Any recommendations for a small Xmas tree in Brixton or Herne Hill? Fuck Pines and Needles, obviously…

Croxted Road Garden /centre maybe?

I don't think it is particularly cheap, and I am sure you could get cheaper in Tescos or somewhere (think it is £10 per foot for Nordstrom's and £8 per foot for standard) but, it is a local business and we have been buying from there for a few years.

With 1 day to go, I imagine you could start getting bargains around now, since everyone's stock will become effectively worthless tomorrow evening

I was also there and yes, it was the only time I've been in that church. No photos I'm afraid. I think people tend not to take photos at funerals as it might be construed as disrespectful. This was also long before everyone carried a camera around in their pocket at all times.

Croxted apparently was cheaper than Brockwell Park and some other local providers

Ah bugger. I'm DJing so can't make it. Feel free to come along to the Effra Social later!

Hardly watch ITVX but watching it for Mr Bates vs the Post Office (which is fantastic & glad the scandal’s getting public recognition finally) and EVERY ad break has an advert for the new Admiral slot machine place in Brixton - along with all the ads in the tube station & at bus stops it’s really depressing how much they’re pushing this.

Saw that ad on buses today in Streatham

I’d really like to understand the legal justification for such places - presumably it’s around tax and if they didn’t exist people would do similar illegally or online. Weak whatever it is and it shouldn’t be up to each locality to argue against them - they just shouldn’t be a thing. They just give a licence to exploit people.

That's what we got Brexit for - dodgy Austrian gambling companies.
I haven't been to Austria since 2003 - but it struck me as an uptight sort of place. You couldn't get in a Gay Bar without a suit and a bow tie.
I bet they don't have Admiral Slots in Linz and Vienna!

I think it’s because bookie shops were forced to reduce the maximum amount bettable on FOBT machines, Admiral and Merkur have stepped up as some form of halfway house between bookies and casinos.

It’s really grim, but they’re everywhere nowadays so people must enjoy putting all their money into machines which guarantee that they will pay back less than they take.

Money laundering is a key aim.
Do you get a receipt or can you get a cheque for winnings?

If I’ve got £10k nicked, stick it into a machine, get £9k out, could I get some form of a receipt to make it look like I put a fiver in and happened to win £9k?
