Brazil v Germany (Semi Final) Tuesday 8th July 2014

yeah, not looking too good for Brazil... Not unless Neymar makes miraculous recovery.

Bookies still seem to have Brazil as favourites for this one :hmm:

Neymar plus Silva out and Germany looking workmanlike so far.

Germany - Probably. Not sure brazil will get away with their tag team aggro squad tactics a second time - the ref and the opposition will be ready for it. I think the germans will keep cool heads and have the quality to exploit brazils weaknesses - the crowd will be roaring brazil to attack but I think think the likes of Hulk and Fred will get meagre returns against the germans and the pressure and frustration may well get to the hosts.

can't see past Germany for this one or the tournament. They managed to make beating France look like Chelsea wrapping up a routine away win against a mid-table Premier League team

Brazil are still favourites for this even withoout Neymar. Home advantage is a big deal, none of the big teams have impressed so far - so with all of them being equally lacklustre it's still Brazil's to lose.

I'd say it's 60/40 in Brazil's favour.

Brazil is the one team Germany is afraid of. Every time I've seen Brazil play someone else (e.g. Chile) the Germans in the bars I've been in have been cheering for those "someone elses" whoever they may be.

That's true of everywhere though. The Liverpool of international football except without all the divvy self regarding slogans on banners

Brazil haven't looked too impressive throughout the tournament, and teams have done well in past shorn of a talisman. Plus, whilst he was anonymous in the quarter final, Oscar looked fairly bright in the groups and could step up.

Want Germany to win. Partly because I have them in the work sweepstake :D Will admit that a Brazil v Argentina final would be a good one though

I really really really reeeeeeally badly want Germany to win, because I happen to go to Germany on Sunday, and it'd be the first time in over 15 years that I'd get to watch a world cup game -let alone the final- "at home" and it'd be so much fun. I'd love to watch it with my friends and family. Watching Brazil-Argentina wouldn't be quite the same. :D

Eta: Got Holland in the work sweepstake - so a Brazil-Argentina final would really be a rather disappointing outcome for me at this stage of the game!

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeh, I'm so nervous. :oops::

I'm backing Germany though may hedge by putting something on Brazil 2 - 1.
Looking forward to this. The romantasism of Brazil being able to win and go on to the final, in spite of missing some of their best players. Vs the organised realistic tacticle Germans. Germany were a bit slow against Algeria though. Could come undone.

Hulk has been far from incredible and Fred doesn't appear to have a Scooby. So far.

Very true, both have been disappointing, Hulk more so if you ask me.

I'd 'like' Brazil to win only because it'd be interesting to see a possible Brazil v Argentina final. Then again i'd still love to see the Dutch win, you know that 'best team never to win the WC' line that has a resonance for the old cunts who can remember the 70's Dutch team....

but are too young to remember the '66 Portugese team, or the 50's Hungarians

After the previous Brazil game and the Neymar stuff, I'm worried the ref could be a homer (whether deliberately or affected by the surroundings).

Germany to be the better team but Brazil to go through after a shocking decision or two.
