BooMTown 2011 - chapter 3

Urgh. Hurty now. Wish I'd had a camera, was good seeing Girasol's to remember! Fortunately not too many things I needed to forget :hmm:

The festival looks great. I fancy going there next year. Was it sold out?

Sold out, and some.

Lotta people doing tricksy things to get in.

I'd speculate that of the small-medium size festivals, it's king of the hill now - SGP excepted, which is in league of it's own.

Musically brilliant. So varied and no filler that I could find. Always something good to listen to. The Lions Den was especially epic every time we went in.

Stuck, as I was, in outerspace with my van, the upside: No balloon hiss all day and night. Argghhh. Balloons. :( :D

Yeah, it was difficult to get any rest unless you were really fucking knackered. Too much noise in the camping area. Probably just getting a bit old though. ;)

Just got back after doing my last shift this morning. Once again epic epic festival, absolutely loved it, even though a number of things went wrong.

The only drawback with working is that some of the people in attending do tend to be a bit rough and tumble, again there were a couple of assaults on crew, by people who didnt have the right wristbands to get into the crew camping.. (think it may have been one particular person tbh).

Anyway will write a better review when I don't feel like I'm going to keel over and die any minute.

And no badgers I didn't put anything up my arsehole.

Anyone with two eyes could see where to walk straight into the crew camping, what a muppet.

Did anyone hear about a young girl dying? Some friends of mine saw a girl turning very blue, and paramedics doing CPR and using a defibrilator late on Saturday night/Sunday morning. They thought she died but I haven't heard anything more about it.

Seemed to get sketchier as the weekend went on. By Sunday I'd had my fill. I was pleased that they had expanded the crafts area and made it into it's own proper thing - it was relatively munter-free and good place to get one's head back together.

I think I'm also getting old. ;)

I can't say officially, but that was the rumour, and about 5-6 am sunday we were blocked from entering a certain area of the campsite due to a death.

Unfortunately there were many casualties over the weekend. I think in a shift on Saturday night I saw at least 5 or 6 people taken off in the ambulance golf buggies with breathing apparatus on. It's very sad and hope everyone is well and safe.

We were warned about a legal high called red snapper which is sold as a k replacement in the current shortage, and people are doing k sized lines of it, when all you need is a teeny weeny bit. We all laughed it off, but it was very apparent how much of a problem it really was.

I hope none of that blight the event itself as it is absolutely brilliant.

I'd like to say the event takes on a whole different form as the weekend goes on. It just gets more and more weird and mental.

I was tucked up in my van listening to Radio 4 on Sunday night. There's only so much mental I can do. :D

*calls nurse*

I was in my tent freezing my arse off by 11.30. Freezing my arse off as I'd managed to somehow rip my tent open in a particularly 'special' moment on Saturday night. Oh and panicking I wouldn't wake up for my shift this morning as I'd lost my phone.

Did get a bit chilly last night. I saw those clear blue skies in the afternoon and thought - here we go.

Ouch on phone losing. Hope it wasn't an expensive one.

I remember you but then you vanished so I naturally assumed you had never really existed

I came back looking for you lot a few times, but no luck :( So perhaps it was all a dream. Or something.

Nuff respect to the EastEnder! And all of you bunch of loons :) Ya mother's got a penis!

(PS Hope that's not true about a girl dying :( )

Anyway.... Big up to the Boomtown75ers .. x

yeah, I had the battery operated radio close to my ear on one occasion to grab a sense of normality back and I must say it was an inspired thought, bringing that radio with me. It did feel pretty insane in there at times!!! And not in a good way

It did get stranger the last night, folk more hardcore muntered. Though it was maybe that I didn't have the energy left to focus on one thing for long and it suddenly seemed weird and really sad that it was all over and ending. And I was kicking myself for not taking outrageous advantage of a remarkably pretty festival sprite which would've made that cold last night more bearable. Actually reading that back now I'm seeing I was possibly a teeny bit muntered myself and perhaps still am.

Oh and I could hardly sleep for the nutters in the next tent doing some kind of weird light show half the night

Well that was much fun - amazing festival! :)

I actually managed to leave the campsite and get out and see lots of things, for once. Having said that though, one of my favourite bits of the weekend was listening to Django Spears on the campsite stage. Awesome :D

Not sure who I saw, mostly, but I liked it. There's a genre of newish dance music I keep hearing that I don't know the name of. Was dancing to it late on Saturday night in Bassline Circus.... any suggestions I can go and look up?

Had an, erm, 'overtired' meltdown quite early on  Should have gone to have a proper go at the dance off.... Next time. Sad not to see much of Mr Liberator, but the Bodyshop was just too small and rammed. Loved the swings and the helter skelter.

Good to meet you, 23 :)

Dubstep was pumping on late Sat... like heavy techno / grime / d'n'b mashup? I'm not a big fan of it meself, but there was two really square looking bods busting some fucking heavy tunes - they had seriously dodgy hair but the basslines were fierce!

Good to meet you too Mation (and all the other Random75ers)- we'll have to save the coherent conversation for another time ;)
