Growing my hair out at the moment and it's neither short nor long, but it's long enough to get in my face and be annoying if it's windy.

Mrs.Griff suggested a hair-band type device.

I wasn't too sure about this suggestion as a 58 year old bloke, but after a week or so of wearing one, and going out in public with one on and my barnet not blowing all over the place, I've embraced the Alice band. :)

Poll on the subject.

Only the back is long enough to need tying back and I use those tiny transparent no-snag elastics for that. If one snaps while I'm out and I don't have any spares on me I'll use a small cable tie or whatever other crap is in my pockets.

I'm very lucky in the follicular department. I'm in my seventh decade, and yet my hairline has receded no more than a centimetre. OTOH, I also like to keep my hair fairly short, so a who-the-fuck-is-Alice band would be pointless.

You can get really thin ones that you'd barely notice. The ones I use are the 'shark tooth' kind which sort of pin your hair back but also bury themselves in the process. If you match your hair color you'd hardly know it's there.

Mr S has hair 6" or so blow his belt so I plait it every morning for him and he then puts it under a beanie when he gets to work...he's a mechanic so it could be dangerous left untethered.
He tried Alice bands a number of years ago but they wasn't strong enough to keep it controlled....maybe they have gotten better over time who knows. The shark toothed ones used to scratch his scalp, delicate bloom that he is :D

So good old scrunchies for him.

I used to in my long haired student days.
I do have a sweat band but I hardly wear it, plus it looks a bit daft as it shows forehead above and below now that my hairline is in decline.
