Blind Date in the Guardian

Anyone follow the Guardians Blind dates?
Ive just read this weekends and I think if I had been Eleanor I would have walked out. What a thoughtless selfish bastard he was.

I think you're taking 'person didn't eat anything because they weren't hungry' a bit far.

Sure, break bread, maybe grab a starter for the vibe, but thoughtless, selfish bastard, particularly given the woman's view that he was perfectly nice bloke, despite the date being a bit awkward, is silly stuff.

Has Laurence Fox hijacked your login again?

You can’t deny that it’s odd. There are online sites for singles to approach each other and arrange assignations, these days. Nobody needs to be subjected to this sort of thing any more. Cilla Black is long dead.

Something must be awry in the minds of people who sign up for Grauniad blind dates, and it rules them out as romantic interests for the sane.

I’ve no idea, would guess it’s just that everyone wants their 15 minutes these days and this is an opportunity for it.

Who are these people who are happy to have their appearance and table manners critiqued in a national newspaper just to get a free meal? Surely no-one in their right mind would sleep with any of them?
Says a lot about the Guardian that they ask about table manners!

I kind of regret not applying for Guardian Blind Dates when I was doing online dating and so forth. Largely because I was getting rejected constantly across every dating site and speed dating event I went to, so the completist in me would have liked to have been rejected publicly in the middle class slightly left wing paper of record.

Having a massive breakfast at 3pm before going for dinner in the evening where you don't eat marks you down as a something..

Not as good as the greatest date, which was this one? Blind date: ‘I left my knickers at a house party we crashed’
And the very funny Guyliner article about it:

My Guilty Guardian Saturday Supplement Pleasure is 'Dining Across the Divide', which can often be quite interesting.

It’s all very inefficient.

There should be a unified system where exhibitionists sign up for Guardian-funded meals a deux, which might develop into a date or a political argument as circumstances dictate.
