Blair Vs Hitchens. Is religion a force for good or ill?

The particularly obscene part of the "debate" for me was Hitchens saying "the problems in Israel are because of religion" and Blair saying "no, religion is fine", neither prepared to or interested in looking or hinting at actual reasons because they can't.

I think that if you had to pick one argument that is closest to the truth, then Hitchens would walk it.

His argument was "there's shit and good stuff on both sides", which is.... shite per se... whichever serious look you take at it... Extremely unambitious and saying absolutely nothing, shedding no new light on anything at all....

Weasley politico answer/argument. Remember Blair is a post-modern relativisty type thinker who can't pick a position.

And I will confess to being as perplexed by BA's pic of the Nurburgring and it's relationship to the downsides of humanism as you!
