The Forceful Division of Korea

A bucolic peaceful landscape enjoying the skies its ancestors gazed at vs a cyberpunk dystopia

You can enjoy clear night skies but you're still condemned to a theocracy. Meanwhile in the South, you are in a "theocracy" but with digital aspects and you are condemned to small, unfavorable wages all because you did not study in one of the three universities or the job you're doing is not "profitable".

But you can buy actual food with those wages, not just methamphetamine. And if you do a crime only you get punished and not your whole family.

I’ve know several S Koreans and am aware of the structural and cultural problems in the society, to the extent several ladies preferred enteral student life here over attempting to compete back home in academically prejudiced and sexually misogynistic environment*.

I’m also aware that less of the S Koreans are starving and practically none are farmed out to supply meat for chinas thankless construction projects or sent to fight for Russia armed only with a spade and compass

*I’m sure N Korea is a beacon of sexual equality to you

Does anyone in South Korea claim that the leader is associated with supernatural events? No. In North Korea, Kim Il Sung is claimed to have been associated with miracles. He is the Eternal Leader, according to the Constitution, which no longer claims to be based on Marxism.

Because, despite ending the military junta, the uprising did not change the culture of South Korea for there still persists discrimination of women and extreme competition and forcing pressure among students as well as a Confucian hierarchy system that persists.
All true but that is hardly related to the partition of Korea. The same culture is found in China and Japan and also North Korea - discrimination against women and a hierarchical system (e.g. Emperor worship of the Kims) is very much present in North Korea and I don't know much about their exam system but I'd be surprised if it wasn't also high pressure and competitive.

At least nk has a constitution. The UK by contrast...

there is no greater looker-at-things

No. Hard disagree. His dad was infinitely better at looking at things. The enigmatic stare with which Kim Jong Il greeted factories, citizens and infrastructure was what made the original tumblr so great. Jong Un’s bland grin is very disappointing to any aficionado of North Korean leaders looking at things.

His illustrious brother Kim Jong-Nam was too good at looking at things and often went to Disneyland for looking at things practice, which is why he had to be eliminated whilst he wasn't looking.

Jong-Nam's son, Kim Han-Sol, the Kim Over the Water, will one day lead an observation of liberation to put down the innattentive upstart runtish cur.

Except in South Korea, their "eternal idol" is plastic man.
