Best No/Low Alcohol Beers

they have all the Mash Gang ones in a shop near me, they're def worth trying on the more crafty end (not cheap thought). but I like Lucky saint best so far.

I mainly drink Guinness 0.0 or Brewdog AF these days. I like the alcohol free because they have fewer calories but they're not beer.

I’ll be trying the AF Guinness when I get back home

I’ve not drank lager for a long time and not sure I’d venture in AF lager land

Guinness seems to have good feedback on here.

I managed to try Guinness 0% for the first time the other day and its sadly - for me - has that same weird aftertaste as every other zero alcohol beer I've tried.

I'm throwing in the towel with 0% alcohol beer now. I'd rather just have low alcohol or a soft drink. I've tried so many trying to find 'the one' and they are all basically shite.

I can report the opposite. Never took to Guinness in my boozing days, but the draught 0.0% has now become a staple. Really delicious and comforting.

It's really odd, I was drinking with someone else who said they liked it too. But there's just that same awful aftertaste I cannot get over.

Maybe it’s because you still drink low alcohol, the absence of ethanol is perpetually jarring in a way that fundamentalist teetotallers don’t experience any more.

Quite likely. I have the same issue with oat milk and other non dairy milks. And also zero sugar drinks or vegan chocolate etc. I can always tell if something is lacking.

In my mind, all of these are too expensive to bother with.
It wasn't taste I was after when I was drinking, anyway. I'm glad I'm done with that now...

I know this is supposed to be just beers but does anyone know if there’s such a thing as a decent non-alcoholic wine, that’s not just grape juice like Schloer?

It’s fizzy wine but the Freixenet 0% is ok. Make sure it’s very cold and it’s a decent substitute as it’s nice and dry. Every other one I’ve tried has been minging.

I had one alcohol free wine the other day that tasted rank. I'm of the opinion that there is no such thing as 'tastes just like the real thing' 0% alcohol anymore. Just have a soft drink.

I don’t generally like soft drinks though as they’re mostly for kids - fizzy and sweet.
Fizzy and sweet is also not exactly sustainable over a whole evening or in large quantities

Was looking for non-fizzy, preferably red, but noted for next ‘occasion’ in which fizz is warranted

I haven't found one. They're also full of sugar and I feel worse in the morning than I would with ordinary wine.

Definitely not true of beers any more. The draught Guinness is remarkably convincing.

I disagree. I'm glad it works for you but I can just taste the no alcohol aftertaste every single time, and I hate it. And that includes Guinness 0%. I'd genuinely rather just have a tonic and lemon or lime and soda water than any of these pretend alcohol drinks.

Short answer: No, don’t bother.

Longer answer: There’s some white substitutes that sort of work because they can just make them sweet. But if you want a dry, crisp white, forget it. As for reds, they’re all dreadful. Removing the alcohol seems to do terrible things to wine. I’ve read some people put a few drops of balsamic vinegar in to try and make them a bit more palatable, but I’ve never tried.

best thought about passive/aggressive post no one ever saw as it wasn't posted.

yes it is beer.

yeast bladibla not producing alcohol thingy

I'm pissed though :)

I enjoyed the Brooklyn Special Effects Alcohol Free lager. Tastes more like an IPA than a lager.
I guess IPA is just posh lager anyway

Of all the 0% beers I’ve tried (I’m a lager drinker), I think Stella is my fave with Staropramen a close second. I never drink normal Stella

My husband has tried loads of them and to his utter surprise he's found Carlsberg to be one of the best of the bunch. It's only £3 for 4 bottles at Tesco as well. He's normally a flat beer, so he was shocked he liked it.

It's tricky to get though and often not in store, so he'll opt for Lucky Saint instead.
