Beautiful Days 2012

Too soon to be sure yet obvs, but nmy cautious early punt, on current charts, is on more positive than negative conditions weatherwise. All subject to alterations though.

Will need to check this out properly -- have to admit I haven't yet . But my recollection of all recent BDs including last year, was that very little else was happening on Sunday when the Levellers were on ...

this has always suited me cos I can leave at 9:30pm and know I haven't missed anything I wanted to see

The fireworks are always pretty cool and as last year was a dry festival it was all going off in the bimble on Sunday night. That being said for the last few wet ones it was all finished by midnight.

Looks like the Boomtown folks are going to get great weather this weekend, and we're going to get the shit stuff next weekend - same as it ever was.

Still, looks like just showers at the moment, still a few days to go before the forecasts start getting accurate.

the whole world is at boomtown right now :hmm::(

aaanyway, we're definitely there for bd. doubt i'd make any kind of meet but happy to say hello to anyone that spots us in passing, we're a fairly distinctive group ;) 3 blonde girlchildren, 2 handsome fellas, 1 very pregnant woman, 1 woman with blue hair :D

I was going to go...but friends have dropped out, plus wife has got cold feet about taking our little one there. So, I now have two adult tickets, plus a camper van ticket, plus an child ticket (ticket is for under fives I think) going spare. Happy to part with them for face value if anyone is interested...

Very true. I've just been checking the more technical (OK geekish! :D :p  ) forecasting updates on netweather, and the really shit day looks like it's going to be Wednesday at the moment. But after that I'm far from sure yet, I do see a fair few showers in the mix though for the weekend. Watching that space.

Does anyone know a decent pub near the site? We're thinking of getting there a bit earlier on the Thursday and having a spot of lunch at a local pub before heading over to the site.

Might be worth starting a new thread if you haven't already sold them.

B Days has already got a massive uphill struggle to get even close to last weekend's Boomtown too.

I've not been to Boomtown but it sounds like a different festival with a different vision. I went to Beatherder earlier in the year and I loved it but comaprisons with B Days were pretty pointless as apart from having music in a field everything was different.

Weather makes a massive difference to everyone's mood and the general party atmos. I know loads of people will say they don't care whether it rains or is sunny but the bottom line is it makes a massive difference. If I think back to all the best times I've had at festivals, rain doesnt feature much.

Yeh. This is pretty much it. It doesn't really matter too much about other aspects of a festival if the sun's out. That's why I've stopped going to them as we haven't had a decent summer in years and I'm not shelling out £100 or whatever they charge these days to sit in a wet tent.

I'm looking to come down Friday and leave Sunday night - but how the chuffing heck do I get back to Exeter on a Sundays? As far as I can see, there's no buses. :(

No you're right, there are no special buses. Perhaps get into Honiton and get a bus from there? Its a bit of a long shot. May have to be a minicab.

Right now I'm much more concerned about how badly the serious, serious downpours almost nailed on for tomorrow (Weds) will affect the site .... ... and they'll be moving in from the SW too ...

After that and I've just checked yet again ( ).... prospects look unusually unstable at the moment, different technical models are predicting fairly different outcomes even in this short term. It'll all be about the crucial dividing line betwen very warm and in some places drier, and wetter and cooler. I'm pessimistic that the SW will escape the worst though.

Although I'm still (hopecastingly ;) ) holding out for the rain barrier stalling over Wales and N'wards/N'Westwards (ie away from BD) after Weds!

Meanwhile, London and the SE looks due a mini w/e heatwave according to some!

Ticket price goes through the roof if I travel back a different route.

Are you planning a Worst Great Western train from Paddington on the outward? Or have you already looked at the possibility? of a train both to and from Exeter/Feniton from Waterloo?

The Waterloo route takes longer to get to Devon by, obvs, but in some circs savings can be made maybe? (I've used the Waterloo service to/from BD more than once in the past)

Aye the forecasts are all over the place at the moment, I think one thing is for sure and that we will get some rain, the question is how much? There is a lot of it forecast but not much looks particuarly heavy so maybe we are in for a weekend of fine soaking drizzle, joy of joys.

Bored with wet festivals now - not had a dry one so far - and to add insult to injury had to buy new boots, the phantom welly slasher got me at SGP !!!

don't suppose anyone knows where the better spots for phone reception are on site? i seem to remember that being an issue for us last year. i'm on orange.
