Beautiful Days 2012

Too much talk about the levs on this thread, at least these days there are alternative acts to go and see. A few years back all the other stages ended early so they were the only option.

Not that impressed with the line-up this year, anyone got any recommendations on who I should go and see?

Glad to hear that. Always a major gripe of mine in the past.

I've just been reading up about this new stage for this year, apparently its a theatre / circus thing during the day and comedy in the early evening. Sounds a bit tame and not really my thing, what the festival really needs is another late night venue as on a dry evening the bimble is bursting at the seams.

Also it looks like the new stage will be over the stream from the main site near to family camping, I'm assuming this because the new bar to accompany the stage is called Redwood Bar and the family camping field is called Redwood.

Anyone got any more / better infomed information on this?

Are you confident that the times for acts on non-Leveller stages really have changed for Sunday night for this year? I'm a bit sceptical myself ...

I don't hate the Levs either. I've been to several gigs on their tours over the years** and I sometimes see them at BD (not always though). So I'm a moderate fan only I suppose. But I'm at BD for everything else that's there rather than the Levellers specifically.

**Just don't follow them round the country like several of our more dedicated Lev fanclub mates do at times :hmm:

In any case I have a lot of time for what the Levellers have managed to do with this festival, it's pretty damned good and an annual standard on my summer fests tour now ...

I thought it'd been that way for some years now? Personally I always wander down to see them for a bit of sing along and the fireworks.

I'm pretty sure the big top was still going when the levs were on last year, wasnt it something to do with Fairport Convention? It maybe that the other stuff finishes half way through the levs set but I thought that was as much for everyone to see the fireworks which they clearly spend a lot of money on.

They'll be something on in the bimble for sure.

Will need to check this out properly -- have to admit I haven't yet . But my recollection of all recent BDs including last year, was that very little else was happening on Sunday when the Levellers were on ...

After a thorough soaking last weekend whilst camping, we've provisionally booked a hotel in Exeter, whilst we wait on the weather forecast :D

Is it such a big deal? People do seem niggled by it but it is a great festival.

Agreed.

Not a big deal for me so much, because as I said I'm fine with the Levs really -- somewhere in the boring midpoint between fanboi and h8er :p

But there seem to be a fair few people who go, but who still dislike the 'everything else shuts down when the Levellers are on' thing.

Their fest their rules I guess.

I might, stress might, have 2 adult and 1 child + car parking ticket for sale if anyone wants them...

Weather hopes slowly and cautiously improving for BD .... what with a very good ourlook for this coming weekend ... one that MIGHT be hung onto in the S next week. I stress might! :hmm:

Moar later etc!!! :D ;)

I dunno Will, I think with all the rain we've had this summer a dry but muddy festival is the best we can hope for.
