Are You "Anyone But England"?

TL Dr

"Anyone who thinks that the English genuinely HATE the fact that Welsh and Irish players don't play for England is deluded. It's mor e made up bollocks.

There's certainly an element of pity for the likjes of Bale and Giggsy, both world class players whose national side is dog shit, but there's no HATE going on"
. spymaster

Yeah agree with that spymaster, the hate word is well over the top, nothing like that i agree.
But come on a bit of credit Ref to Wales surely has a fellow football fan , the last EC semis and they way they played v Belgium, "Dog shit" really.
I bet even they and many real football fans deep down if they are honest are at least glad Columbia are out of the world cup.
Never in the history of football have any of the British sides played like that, that is one thing that we all should be proud of.

I don't think most people are putting up flags to show how patriotic they are. It's just that they are following the national football team.
It's just that they're patriotically following the English football team. ( I have to go look up whether England is a nation or not, cba at the moment)

As for the st George cross, it was a much rarer site in NF and BNP marches than the union flag. Either way, it's the flag of this country. Pretending it doesn't exist isn't viable.
I'm not pretending that it doesn't exist, just don't like seeing it at every turn, around every corner. It's fekkin' eye sore, and hopefully by Sunday people will be taking them down.

As the great Carlin said...

"I don't get choked up on yellow ribbons and *American flags. I consider them to be symbols and I leave symbols to the symbol minded"
(* substitute English, British or any other bullshit flag you can think of)

I feel that the 52 years of hurt - as a whole but specifically the 52 - is an excellent insight into the English psyche.
It also pisses me off that this is factually incorrect. The World Cup is held every four years, and England were champions between 1966 and summer 1970, when the next WC took place. Were people in 1969 saying 'three years of hurt'? No they weren't.

Today the England fans should singing '48 years of hurt', being the time that has elapsed since England were last World Cup champions. Get it right people ffs!

I know a few countries have come back from 2 goals down in world cup games

I wonder has anybody ever come back from Three down ?

Well, this is it, but you are mistaken to apply conventional maths to the problem. The hurt began immediately, as it does with all British successes.
