Are You "Anyone But England"?

Why do the English get so butthurt about this whole business.

If people want to favour other teams what's the problem with that? Just carry on with your pubs and your "Ingerlund...Ingerlund...Ingerlund" moronic chanting, and ignore the naysayers. What's so hard about that?

I was working in Paris surrounded by French colleagues during the Euro 2008 (which I remember fondly because I won 70 euros in the office sweepstake). I don't remember anything like the over excessive patriotism, but that might have been because France were woeful and came bottom of their group.

The point is England fans (apart from the odd weirdo) don't give a fuck that people from Scotland, Wales and Ireland don't support them. Why would we, they're different countries with their own teams. The irritation is at ABE-ers pissing all over England fans enjoying supporting their team with 'yeah but what about's. Imo: root for the opposition, that's fine, but don't bitch and moan about us having a laugh with 'it's coming home' and wanting our team to win ffs.
 
especially when we genuinely have been cheated so many times and really should just be given it for deigning to turn up

Exactly. Worst crime here, given that sport doesn't actually matter, is that it's boring.

And comparing this to a thread about the ethics of veganism is silly. If you're shitting on match threads with boring ABE stuff, a closer equivalent would be barging into a thread on vegan recipes in suburban to bang on about bacon.

tbh I didn't quite understand what you were on about there. England fans don't give a fuck that people don't support them? Really? That has not been my observation, it really does seem to bother an awful lot of them, and after reading your reply several times trying to work out what you're getting at, I'm still none the wiser. Sure sing your silly jingoistic patriotic songs and ridiculous national anthem (God save the fkin queen ffs) . Root for your team all you want. If ABE's don't want to join in your "fun" and actively want your opposition to win, and won't stand for your national anthem, then let them get on with it, let them have their fun and stop bitching about ABE's.

I don't stand for or sing the national anthem, wave a flag, smash things when England lose, chant moronically, join in with jingoistic songs, or boo other countries' football teams. And neither do I care who anyone else supports. But it does get really tedious reading loads of vapid, asinine trolling from cockheads on threads for England matches when the entire point if them posting is to upset and wind people up. I'm not talking about normal footy badinage during a match but rather witless fucks who just post "Hahahaha" or "You didn't get that penalty - serves you right for the firebombing of Dresden" etc. It's just fucking boring and there's no need for it, and to keep doing it marks you down as a proper shiteater.

You're not the sharpest tool, are you? You won't find too many England fans on here who do the things you say. It is possible to support England in a non-wanky way. It's also possible to be ABE in a non-wanky way, but I doubt you're capable of it given the caricature of England fans that you rail against.

They don't IME. We clearly know very different people. It's not about ABE types 'joining in' our fun, what gave you the impression I thought they should? It's an acceptable stance. I think we're getting at the same thing: live and let live. Shame everyone but us disagrees eh :D
