Apple crumble with...

More like *fanny* la rouge!
You’re in a restaurant. You opt for the apple crumble. (Maybe you’re still hungry. Maybe you only joined the others for pudding. Build your own back story).

They offer only two choices of accompaniment on any given day of the week.

A) cream or ice cream
B) cream or custard
C) custard or ice cream

Which do you choose in each scenario?

For me it’s

A) ice cream
B) custard
C) custard

(At home when the crumble is hot I like cold custard, but if it’s the next day and cold I have hot custard. But that’s not an eating out scenario).

But I think all are right so far. Ice cream would be perfectly acceptable at home if a) you have ice cream in the freezer, and b) no one can be arsed to make custard.
 
Always anything but ice cream.
If the crumble topping is disappointingly dry and powdery, then possibly custard to disguise/drown it.
But if the apple juices are bubbling tantalisingly through the top, then cream. Lots of cream.
