Who exactly is doing that? All I see is it's been pointed out that this murdering twat was part of the whole 'manosphere' scene which, undoubtedly, is misogynistic, self entitled, self important, ego centric, treats women like pieces of meat with the odd feeling here or there, or in PUA terms 'bitch shield/bitch test,' that need to be 'hacked' with certain tricks. Do I blame that entire scene for him going on the rampage? No, do I blame that scene for stoking probably already pre existing feelings of self importance, entitlement and so on in said murdering twat? Absolutely.

PUAs and the like are not the cause of all the world's ills as you put it, no, they're a symptom of an individualistic, self important society that peddles the bullshit of 'you can get anything want if you just try hard enough and do the right things because you're a special little snowflake who deserves the best.'

I joined that site previously to investigate it when I found out about this 'incel' (involuntarily celibate) word. They seem obsessed with bodybuilding and men having to have the exact 'alpha male' facial proportions to have any chance with women - it's very obsessive

No, but it perhaps adds to the picture of our understanding; it doesn't have to detract anything. There are multiple causes of misogyny, self-loathing seems to be one of them. These discussions really don't have to be so either or.

Soz but I thought both Rodger's vid and farcical "manifesto" Were and are comedy gold - I honestly don't think I've ever come across such a thoroughly dislikable narcissistic little wanker as him. Fuck trying to understand the little trumpet, all he should be remembered as is a laughing stock.

Personally, I'm interested in the causes of misogyny, or any hatred of humankind, and what fuels it, feeds it, what forms it takes. It's not enough for me to call something or someone misogynist, as if this tells us very much.

I think you've misread it, possibly the Donald Sterling story hasn't made it to the UK? He's not the "sexual violence" alternative, he's the "rich racist" alternative.

Rodger's background indicates that this latter alternative would probably have become available to him, had he waited a few years.

Here's the relevant paragraph:

"Elliot would not have made the news had he channeled his fear the way many other terrified males do: by opting for sexual violence and intimidation. Or, he might have managed to land a cushy job that would afford him the luxurious lifestyle he longed for, and become the next Donald Sterling. He would then be free to, as he so dearly wished, systematically "punish" women and ethnic minorities without reproach."
 
I didn't misread it. The key word there is the 'or' at the beginning of your bolded text.

And there's no evidence at all that he was capable of landing a cushy job.
