Not the thread for it but I do have opinions/experience of this kind of thing...the skills etc that tradtionally seen as only for women, what power that has and how women have made lives/brought up families etc on those hand-crafts....I am currently working with a newly set up community knitting and crochet group and history repeats itself in the most beautiful ways there on so many levels. What is fundamental for me is the 'value' placed on things, where people and skills are positioned and how that plays out in those people and their lives. (including myself here).
In fact, the whole community building thing, men are still practically invisible in meaningful ways in that process of discovery/growth, in many places. Another time I think.
