Alternative Euro 2004: U75 Team Needed

I don’t think I played that bad on Sat and I’m definitely getting used to the two touch game. I start to forget that we are playing it as I start passing it around without thinking.

I’ll be there for Wednesday 6:00 pm.

Regents'll have to do cos of the easy access for all. we only need a small space too, I believe the next 3 training sessions should be the two touch keep ball, nothing else.
sorry, i dont agree with this either, good for warming up, improving fitness and getting people used to moving the ball forward, but we are going to be playing a football tournament, not a two-touch tournament. we should be looking at the all round game, not just concentrating on one area. :)

i also think theres a bit too much worry about "fitness" as a whole in this team. nothing wrong with wanting to get that little bit fitter for the day, nothing wrong with that at all! but lets face it, none of ya are suddenly gonna improve 10 fold in three weeks! the important thing to be focusing on is playing as a team imo. everyone is responsible for their own fitness and no-one should look to be doing "what everyone else is doing" coz that will just mean more injuries... you all know your own limits, and when you need to put in extra time/work. so long as you are getting a run out twice, or maybe three times a week, i dont think you should be worrying too much. relahni, i think you'd need a few more chinese takeaways and pizza's (it was a fairly healthy pizza matey, you had salad with it!) before you need to start worrying, imvho :)

regents park isnt great in terms of space (or even completely flat ground!) but seems its easiest for everyone to get too. hyde park is a complete fuck on to get too and from, so i personally would not be up for that at all. southwark park is near a tube station, and has pretty flat ground, but might prove a bit of a trek for some? so i guess the choice is regents or southwark park?

ringo, we need you for the uncanny skills you have in distracting the other team.. "is there two sleaters on the pitch?!" :D

:D

Regarding parks: another vote for Regents here, unless of course we'd like to move training to the more civilised north... ;)

Too be honest, most of my game is about the early pass, I rarely have more than two touches anyway. I'm happy with either but agree with the side that 2 touch then game is best.

The way I see it - our weakness is not fitness but what Flimsier said the other night - communication.

Fitness is up to the individual - totally agree what Rollem said and it's a great post by the way.

There have been a few moments when I've lost the ball because when I've been in trouble no-one gave me a shout and moved into space - also when two men were free I went for the shot over the pass because no-one gave me a shout.

I'd say communication by all of us is more important than getting fitter in three weeks.

6 is OK with me. if for some reason I'm late go ahead and I'll find you in the park, or if you can txt me Chris to say where you guys are.

that's the clever bit, you won't see it, cos you'll be blinded ;)

There are 12 of us tonight! Shitter really - so we'll have to run around non stop to get anything out of it as we'll have 10 mins in goal and 10 mins on the bench. Shit! 40 minutes to run around and for you to have a blinder.

Sorry Manager but I disagree. I think 21 days will make a massive difference to my fitness. In fact, I’ve only played three times in the last 10 days and I’m already feeling 100% better. I can’t move into space or get back to tackle if my body won’t allow it so I do think fitness is crucial. However, communication and working as a team is still important too.

I think Rollem was making a good point in that its difficult to make a massive difference in 21 days if you play football regularly.

Of course, for those that haven't kicked a ball in ages, 21 days can really help!

(Not that its possible to tell who's who when we're playing, unfortunately  )

Good point. I'm one of those who hasn't played regularly since last summer.

My fitness has improved in the last week or so, but then sometimes I go boxing 3 times a week and play footie at least once a week on Mondays.

Admitedly I then drink shit loads too much and eat crap foods (lots of it too).

i of course was not taking into consderation you, rudeboy....but then you get excercise dancing each weekend remember ;)

I didn't buy any pork pies or that crate of 24 cans of guiness draft at Tesco's yesterday.

No bread, no cakes, no chocolate biscuits, no sweets, no crisps - I hope you lot appreciate the fucking sacrifices that I make.

I've given up doing housework and am instead saving my energy for the games. It hasn't been easy you know. :p

just been reading back on some of the posts / questions i may have missed,....and apart form anything it has made me realise we should perhaps have christened ourselves "bonkers united"! :D

re: pitch size - they cant give a specific size, just said that it will be roughly marked out to 7-a-side pitch  to be fair, the organisers have enough on their plate without little nit picking questions from us. its normal football rules, excpet theres no offisde rule played, and back passes for the keeper to pick up are not allowed (ball over head hieght is allowed) ....everything else will be explained on the day, so please be patient :)

Yep, me too, long ball - Flimsier - knock down - Ringo - Gooooooallll.

Chris Filter corner - Flimsier - gooooooooooaaaaaaallllll.
