Alternative Euro 2004: U75 Team Needed

Has anyone PMed Wowbagger to find out if he's around?

He might be shit in goal as well. WE need to give him a trial - otherwise it's Tony the cat in goal.

I think Tony is a good keeper - he's brave, can dive etc and has great communication and will be able to let the team know what they need to do.

It's just that imo he's one of our better players on the pitch too.

Tell me if I'm wrong, just the way I see it. No Wowbagger, no problem - still have a good keeper like.

Bloody hell, I've made 75 posts on this thread....

Tony and Chris have made over 100.

We must get points for enthusiasm! :)

I agree with you entirely. Tony would be great to have at the back with you, but we need to see if Wowbagger is good enough to go in the sticks. There's nothing more frustrating than losing because the keeper can't really do the job.

I'm happy to play anywhere. Think ringo deserves a place in the team though, and he'll be excellent for defending from the front.

Cheers, Flimsy - always nice when someone recognises true class.

Ahem.

;)

:D

Happy to play/be involved wherever there's a need, though peeps might have guessed I'm not the strongest finisher, haha - would agree that Flimsier's probably best up front.

Also agree that Tony's one of the better players on the pitch, too, as well as being an ace keeper - if Wowbagger's any good between the sticks and can make practices/the big day, it'd be good to have Tony in the outfield.

So, what's the plan for training this week, then? Still going for Wednesday? If it's gonna be tomorrow, will need to know shortly.

ringo, we need you for the uncanny skills you have in distracting the other team.. "is there two sleaters on the pitch?!" :D

How many players have we got?

Tony
Brixton Hatter
Relahni
Sleater
Chris Filter
Ringo
Flimsier
Scott
JTG
Wowbagger?

Is that enough?

You can rely on the b if you forget the dates of important footballing events like the FA Cup Final.

Perhaps on tournament day he'll make sure we don't forget England are playing France the same day!

:p at B

Plantar fasciitis takes months to heal up properly so don't see myself playing in the tournament. I tried to run for a tube train last night and felt sharp pains in my right foot after about 5 steps...:(

We only have 5 more dates on which to train etc.. between now and the tournament... that's if we stick to the current format... that's not much at all. I think we should stick to the current Wed & Sat setup and those who can turn up - turn up...

I agree. I think people should individually be working on their fitness too if possible. That's where we're going to struggle, in the unlikely event that we are good enough to progress out of the group stage!

I suggest a big thumbs down to Regents Park - my foot is a bit achey after playing on that dry shitty surface. There's got to be better parks than that one. Hyde park? Southwark park?

The B fucked his foot at Regents park too.

Agree about the indivdual fitness training. After Saturdays shit show I had a chinese takeaway and pizzas washed down with a few beers.

Playing footie tonight - will run around a bit more to get the fitness levels up.

Regents Park is the most convenient but there is no space.

The park near my house (Aveling Park) is massive and lush, but is probably too far for most people.

yeah, people ride their bikes to training, so should be reasonably central.. can kinda understand the regeneration and fencing off of regents now..

Is that why?

Where should we go then?

Just thought football in Central London is not easy, but what about Lincoln Inn Fields?

Regents'll have to do cos of the easy access for all. we only need a small space too, I believe the next 3 training sessions should be the two touch keep ball, nothing else. for that we only need a small space, as I've said already. We'll be as fit as we can, if we push it to hard it'll do more damage than good, so no need to go overboard, as it stands I have 3 games a week (2 with U75) and I go to the gym twice, I aint doing more than that no matter what.

so we're on for Wed then??

I don't agree with it just being the two touch keep ball. I like playing and I'm playing to enjoy it. I'm happy to do the two touch keep ball - its a good routine - but I'd like to play a game as well (and we're not actually going to be playing two touch in the real thing).

it's all about fitness mate and moving the ball around. you'll be surprised at how much it helps when you play a game, I play for my work team and that's the only was we train and we've only lost 3 games in 3 years, make of that what you wish. By training with the 2 touch we get used to shifting the ball around quickly and with comfort, improves everything.

if you look at the 2 touch we played, we constantly had the ball moving and some neat touches were regular, when we played the game we were fragmented a lot of the time and out of position quite a bit too.

only a suggestion like.
