Then get maudlin drunk one day burn all your bridges and run to e'boro with a false name and a beard, but taking the job you were going to take. Claim to be your own long lost brother or summat

Your in a much stronger position when employed to find your perfect job.
that's not true. you might be more attractive to an employer because you're employed - i think when i was on the dole i was told it was something like four times more attractive than someone on the rock.

but finding a job takes time and when you're working much of the day you can't be looking. not to mention that many people work in different fields from that they'd ideally like to.
 
Yes, I have applied for a few jobs that seemed completely written for me to which the response was absolute silence. Eventually I found that the job I did accept was much more relevant for me than its job description suggested.
