4 to 5k to spend on an estate car?

AAhM5L8.img

Not as beautiful as my Brera but as estate cars go, "state cars have no right to look this good. The Alfa Romeo 159 Sportwagon is the antithesis of the Volvo 240 - achingly beautiful to look at and just as great to drive"

Practically great: brilliant used estate cars for £5,000

^ It looks great but otherwise it's merely alright, not the best. Depends what your aim or frame of reference is I guess.

The boss of Fiat called it a mistake :D

So hoping someone can help or at least suggest a different forum to ask.

Basically my other half pranged my car a while back and I need to get it fixed. Found someone who can knock the dent out. Not good as new, but that's fine, just mostly alright.

Anyway I need a new rubbing strip (plastic that goes down the side). Looking on eBay they are listed as very model specific.

Although this is listed for a , do you think they would fit a 330d M sport do you think these would my more vanilla 320d?

The doors are the same on both models so they will fit. If by chance they don't just follow the golden rule of inappropriate car parts off ebay: put them back on for 20% more than you paid for some other daft twat to buy.

Breakers yard?

do you need a full strip ? it is amazing how a cheap replacing of OEM clips and proper fasteners can sort out what look like a horrendous cosmetic issue

The breakers yards near me are closed down. It's been caught since that photo, so is proper bent now.

Those Style 45s are doing nothing for me. Get some 8/8.5 x 17 Style 32s and powder coat them black.

I don't even know exactly what the difference is, but I'm not trying to pimp up an aging estate car, just make it not so embarrassing to drive. :D

Jesus UnderAnOpenSky, seems that both you AND your other half really do need one of these...

Yeah. Maybe.

Tbf I've only had one crash in many many years. It was just a rather dramatic one.

BMW. Embarrassing to drive.

I'm sorry.

More the sorry state of it. Im not a brand snob in the slightest, would happily buy Ford again next time. Provided they are solid, can over take when needed and have plenty of space for my kit it's all good. I'd just rather it not look like it's been driven into things.

Oh! I thought he meant changing the rubbing strips. No intrest in changing the wheels. It's a 13 year old estate car!

2nd fucking punctuation or the year. Still had loads of life in its as well. I'm jinxed at the moment. Think I've only had 4 or 5 in 19 years of driving.

Rather embarrassingly I didn't get a spare wheel sorted after the last one.

Any issues buying a spare from ebay?

Do I need to buy any other kit other then a jack and wheel brace? How does it work with the locking wheel nut and aftermarket braces?

The locking wheel nut will work fine until the shitty socket strips - they all do somewhere between the third and seventh use.

I'm hoping I've had my share of random punctures for a few years. :hmm:

Could be worse I guess. Fair few cars spun out on the motorway due to shit weather conditions.

Ha well. Got to the garage and the RAC guy asked me for the locking wheel nut. Except I don't think he gave it to me. He swore blind he did, so not much more could be said. It was bashed off. Think I'll just get 4 standard wheel nuts and be done with them, seems unlikely someone would nick the wheels of a 13 year old car.

After wards the guy at the garage said he was pretty sure the RAC guy was blagging it as well.

My only issue with it is it's a diesel. The expensive job, the timing chain has been done. Leccy windows might be something as simple as a fuse.
A great looking car.

It looks ok but with the 1.9 diesel, scruffy body, kerbed wheels, and no leather you can see why it makes SOTW.
