We are Unite members at the 13th Note, Glasgow. Our union represents 95% of the workforce and submitted a collective grievance in February citing appalling issues with health and safety, poverty pay, and work insecurity.

After months of fruitless negotiations and exhausting all options, we voted unanimously for strike action.

We struck for fair pay, fair contracts, a safer workplace and trade union recognition that would allow us to concretise the improvements we were achieving. Jacqueline Fennessey, the owner of the 13th Note, the Left Bank and the Bungo, refused to meet us on these very reasonable demands, instead opting to embark on a campaign of trade union victimisation.

In spite of the overwhelming collective voice of our members, the owner has seen fit to liquidate the venue with immediate effect (19/07), 2 hours before a scheduled ACAS meeting with our representatives, leaving our members jobless during a cost-of-living-crisis.

The funds raised here will be used to support workers against any immediate hardships as the result of job losses, as well as support our campaign to reclaim our venue and livelihoods!
