Your Seven Wonders of the World

soulman

is no more...
Places you've been or would like to go to.

When I was younger, and in a well paid but soul crushing job, I spent some time in Egypt exploring. So the Pyramids is on my list of wonders.

- The counry side and ting, 'cos it's pretty and dat. Innit?

I think the natural scenery which has most blown me away has to be Matobo National Park in Zimbabwe. Unfortunately I can't find any photos on the interweb which really do it justice, but it's full of rock formations like this...

...and at the high points, there's just a sense of open space which I've never experienced before.

As for man made stuff, Mount Tai'Shan is pretty impressive, due to the 6,600 steps the Chinese have carved into it. Apparently if you make it to the top you live to 100. Personally I found walking up felt like it was taking years off my life.

Yes I know there are much greater feats of human engineering than this, and in China itself the Great Wall pisses all over it on that criteria, but everyone picks that one! :p

Seven? I'll get there. But meanwhile:

Angkor Wat in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Man-made and the most superb man-made thing i've seen.

Niagara Falls is quite a reasonable waterfall.

Most beaches on ko tao and ko phangan in southern thailand.

Not as well known as it should be because of the difficulty of going there as a tourist - Isfahan in Iran, particularly the main square:

some of the mountain peaks with fields or buildings posted up on here are truly spectacular! what feats of human perseverance to build up on them.
