Your daily cat and kitten news

Not had catnip here in years - Radar liked it, but one whiff of the stuff would make Sonic aggressive towards the others so he'd strut around doing OSH growling (which sounds like a cross between someone being murdered and someone playing a Theremin, and probably upset the neighbours as well as our other cats), and Jakey didn't react to it - so we never had any in.
Might try some catnip toys with the kittens when they are here.
It's odd how catnip can make some cats aggressive and it seems to affect pedigrees rather than moggies.

I suppose it's a bit like alcohol with humans. It makes some people happy, silly or soppy yet others start spoiling for a fight.

I've got three Savannahs staying here over Christmas and one of them goes completely loopy over the cat friendly disinfectant I use and starts hurling himself around on the floor when he arrives!

Blimey, how big are they?
I've never seen one IRL, I think the later generation ones are nearer large housecat size rather than WTF? size, if I understood it correctly?

the two mogs i used to live with were variable on the catnip.

friendly snugglepuss was usually ok but got aggressive once on a bad trip

more cautious kitty generally just became spaced out hippy cat

The biggest of the three is huge.... about 8kg I think. The middle one's a bit smaller and the third one is normal cat size. As you probably know, the original savannahs were a cross between a cerval and a domestic cat and they're graded using F numbers to denote how close they are to the wild cat. The biggest one staying with me is an F4 and the other two are F7 and F11.

I'll post some pictures of them in the morning.

There's a specific brand available on Amazon that seems to drive our cats wild - we have had a number of the butterflies, which are full of catnip and have crackly wings... and crazy stoned faces :D
