people love treatsI am surprised at quite how much love there is for M&S food hall. I've nothing against it at all and the enthusiasm on here is making me look forward to seeing what they've done. I've only ever shopped at the Brixton one but I've always thought it relatively pricey and "treaty". What is it that folk love about it?
Their food often isn't even nice. But I go in for a few key bits that you can't get elsewhere.I am surprised at quite how much love there is for M&S food hall. I used to use the M+S food hall quite a lot. Pricing was weird. Some things were insanely expensive. But a lot wasn't. Oftern things would be a little more expensive than other supermarket own brand stuff but way cheaper than branded stuff will being better quality than both. You just had to be careful as you could get realy stung on some things.I am surprised at quite how much love there is for M&S food hall. The fruit quality difference is real. i used to work at East Kent Packers (EKP) in Fav and the M&S lines were always those that took the best quality inputs and attracted the closest management supervision. There was always the fear of losing the M&S contracts.I used to use the M+S food hall quite a lot. Pricing was weird. Some things were insanely expensive. But a lot wasn't. Fresh fruit was the big draw for me it was around the same price as other supermarkets, (sometimes cheaper than Aldi) but always much nicer.
Then the fuckers went and clossed my local one down.
That makes sense. I've always wondered if I'm imagining it.The fruit quality difference is real. i used to work at East Kent Packers (EKP) in Fav and the M&S lines were always those that took the best quality inputs and attracted the closest management supervision. I've posted about this before, but it's also true of their crisps. I worked in a crisp factory and M&S were the only brand that brought in their own spuds, and had additional people for QA etc.The fruit quality difference is real. i used to work at East Kent Packers (EKP) in Fav and the M&S lines were always those that took the best quality inputs and attracted the closest management supervision. Absolutley; when the M&S inspectors were in everything had to be ping-pong. The young women doing the the "144" line of lemon boxes really did take every one of the 144 fuckers out of the box and out of their wrappers to check for "blues".I've posted about this before, but it's also true of their crisps. I hardly ever eat ready meals either but recently found myself needing to buy dinner late at night at a petrol station with an M&S shop. I've had a few of their lasagnes since then!M&S have, or had, a ready meal with meatballs made out of pork and beef. I normally detest this combination, but liked this. However, I rarely eat ready meals these days, even superior ones, so don't know if it still exists.
I've heard the same about ready meal production lines where M&S took particular oversight where several supermarket own labels came out of the same factory.Absolutley; when the M&S inspectors were in everything had to be ping-pong.
